The iPhone 7 is one of the highly anticipated Apple devices expected to hit the market in the later part of the year. So when reports of the iPhone 7 start circulating the Internet, everyone gets excited to hear about the new features this smartphone will be equipped with.
Earlier today, a new report shows that the iPhone 7 could be equipped with 256 gigabytes of storage capacity; making it equal to the memory on the iPad Pro and with more space for apps and videos. This is two times the capacity of the current iPhone models, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which only top at 128 gigabytes of storage. According to analyst firm TrendForce, cheaper components will enable Apple to offer up to 256 gigabytes of memory space.
Despite the change in memory size, the firm believes Apple will keep offering 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch size models as these have shown to be something customers are interested in. Apart from the memory boost, the firm shares that Apple will be increasing the random access memory (RAM) configuration on the 5.5 inch model to 3 gigabytes. Compared to the RAM available on the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, this change should make it easier for device users to multi-task and for more sophisticated apps to be supported by the device. As for the display technology on the iPhone 7, the analyst firm believes that Apple will not be making any big changes in the future since it would greatly disappoint those who look forward to an AMOLED display screen on the iPhone 7.
Other predictions on the iPhone 7 include a new dual camera configuration for the 5.5 inch model and a minimum storage doubled to 32 gigabytes. There are also reports that Apple will be taking out the 3.5 inch headphone jack in exchange for something more convenient to use. Additionally, it is said that the update cycle on the iPhone will be shifted to a slower paced three year cycle instead of two.
These new features on the iPhone 7 could be Apple's attempt to change the direction the company is going, especially since they have reported the decrease of iPhone shipments in the first quarter of 2016 to just 51.2 million units. While this is still a highly profitable figure, Apple definitely needs to step up if it wants to take a step higher than its fierce competitors. And with the way things are heading, it only looks like Apple could be doing well with these changes to the iPhone 7.
