When Apple unveiled the iPhone SE last month, a lot of people scoffed at the idea of a smaller iPhone model that lacked the qualities of a flagship model. But it looks like more people were keen on the idea of having a 4 inch iPhone after all. As a matter of fact, AppleInsider earlier reports that in most Apple stores, iPhone SE models are no longer available to purchase. Checking online, the same problem is reported.
Although some iPhone SE handsets are scheduled for delivery on April 12th of this year, Apple reports that those who decide to get the device will have to wait until April 27th before they can get their smartphone. This is the same case for any iPhone SE model under any of the four major carriers in the country. Whether you are getting the 16 gigabyte variant or the 64 gigabyte variant in any color. Apple now charges an extra $10 for expedited shipping. Unfortunately, these orders will not arrive for two more weeks. If you decide to go for free shipping, the waiting period will be from two and a half weeks up to three weeks.
This is good news for Apple since it decided to take a risk with the iPhone SE. With a market currently prevailing with big screen models, Apple has made a daring move with the iPhone SE. It is likely that the reason behind the limited availability of the iPhone SE could be due to a heavy consumer demand for a 4 inch iPhone device. It could also be brought about by insufficient inventory on the part of Apple. Or it could even be a combination of the two. Either way, Apple wins in these scenarios since it has been able to outsell its iPhone SE device despite people thinking otherwise.
Long before Apple released the iPhone SE, there were surveys conducted in the US where individuals were asked if they would go for a 4.7 inch or 5.5 inch smartphone. Around a fifth of these customers responded to the smaller screen smartphone model. This is probably what prompted Apple to listen to the requests of its customers and create an iPhone model with a smaller screen in a time of large display smartphones like the iPhone 6s Plus, Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge, LG's G5, and many others. It makes you want to question -- are small screen phones making a comeback?
