It is definitely full steam ahead for Asus, at least with regards to its ZenFone line of mobile devices. The Taiwan based tech company is planning to launch up to 7 new ZenFone models next year. As told by Jerry Shen, chief executive officer of Asus, to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes recently, the new releases in 2016 will include a premium ZenFone Deluxe device, two models of the mainstream ZenFone Laser handset, one ZenFone Selfie and ZenFone Max, and one or a couple of ZenFone Go devices.
Interestingly, this plan is just for 2016. Since we are still in 2015, Asus is remarkably not done with introducing new offerings this year alone. As a matter of fact, during the upcoming IFA trade show to be held in Berlin in September of this year, the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer is expected to announce Zoom and Max variants of the 5.5 inch mobile device, the former of which is equipped with a 3x optical zoom camera, and the latter a 5,000 mAh battery.
And just a week ago, Asus also introduced the ZenFone 2 Special Deluxe Edition. The company is definitely highlighting the 256 gigabyte internal memory of this handset. This new handset has also been revealed to have a Brazil release. Launched editions of this device so far already include a Deluxe Edition and the Laser and Selfie variants, both of which feature more powerful cameras compared to the original edition.
As for the second generation ZenFone range, it made its debut in Taiwan in March early this year before being launched in the United States market a couple of months later. The device comes in a number of variants, includes ones that feature 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), and a flagship edition that has both 4 gigabytes of RAM and up to 64 gigabytes of internal memory.
Reviews of the ZenFone 2 have already cited the device for the quality of its display screen as well as its low light camera. Others however were not too enthusiastic about the handset’s underperforming battery (at least when compared to other phones of similar pricing). The Deluxe Special Edition will be made available in two types, the Carbon Night design and the Drift Silver design. It is slated for release in Brazil by September of this year, but as of now, Asus is yet to provide any details regarding the pricing and specific availability.
