Unlimited data plans may no longer be an option from AT&T, but the wireless carrier is introducing a brand new feature that allows mobile users, especially those availing of tiered data, to earn extra data every month. The new feature is called Data Perks, and it is designed to give AT&T subscribers free bonus megabytes of data in exchange for completing offers from the wireless carrier’s partners.
What offers to be completed exactly are we talking about? Well, it ranges from participating in surveys and polls, watching commercials and ads, or enrolling in free trials or purchasing items. By doing any of these, subscribers can accumulate extra data, which can then be applied to their AT&T plan, and then incorporated to that month’s data allotment. The data that the subscribers earn is saved in the Data Perks mobile app, and they can apply up to 1,000 megabytes of this to their AT&T account in each billing cycle.
AT&T has made the Data Perks feature available to all of its postpaid consumer customers under any of the smartphone plans with data from the wireless carrier. But in order to fully optimize on what Data Perks can offer, subscribers will have to download the mobile app (it is absolutely free of charge), and then confirm that they are indeed qualified for the feature. After having set the mobile app up, they can start browsing through offers by AT&T’s popular partnering brands such as Hotel Tonight, Fandango, and Rosetta Stone, among many others.
When subscribers have applied their earned bonus data to their AT&T plan, they have until the end of that particular billing period before it expires. However, it should be noted that the data that is saved in the Data Perks mobile app will roll over from month to month, plus there is no limit no how much subscribers can accumulate. They need only launch the Data Perks mobile app at least once every year, and the extra data they earned will not expire and can still be applied to their AT&T plan any time they like. Also, data can only be applied in increments of 25 megabytes, which should help subscribers prevent themselves from using up too much of their extra data by adding too many in a given billing period.
