Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron recently hit cinemas worldwide. Superpowers notwithstanding, one of the highlights of this much-awaited sequel is the cool and futuristic gadgets that the characters, especially Tony Stark, use. We know that they are technically just movie props, but it appears that Samsung would like us to believe that some of these shiny tech toys will be brought to life sometime soon.
The South Korean phone maker has inked a marketing deal with Marvel, and has even showcased some of the transparent-screen smartphones and tablets at this year's Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, Nevada, back in January. But this time around, Samsung is hinting that the devices used in the second Avengers movie could be hitting stores in the near future.
As reported by the Korea Herald, executives of Samsung attending a screening of the film, and later highlighted the transparent screen devices that were used in the film. The South Korean tech giant has been teasing its customers with transparent and bend-capable display screens for some years now, but only its Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note Edge devices are commercially available now. But Samsung is preparing to launch a red Iron Man edition of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which will likely hit stores a few weeks from now, although it has not yet been confirmed at which market it will be released. When it does get launched, there is no doubt that many will pick it up, just to experience what it is like to be a billionaire playboy philanthropist, even if it is by choice of phone only.
While both comic movie and smartphone fans await Samsung's futuristic offerings, the company is putting together a "Battle for the Avengers' Tower" virtual reality experience. This is designed to work with the Samsung Galaxy S6 handset as well as the Samsung Gear VR headset. To get a taste of how this works on other Android phones, you better check this out.
Samsung's marketing deal with Marvel is a marvelous strategy (pardon the pun). All signs indicate that the second Avengers movie is making a killing at the global box office right now, and will likely continue to be a crowd drawer in the weeks to come. The South Korean phone maker certainly needs all the publicity it can get. The company is currently in the midst of trying to bounce back after successive quarters with lackluster sales figures and disappointing profit margins. The release of its two newest flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, should allow it to get back on track.
