In Verizon Wireless’ latest ad campaign, the United States wireless industry leader makes full use of colored balls in order to highlight what it claims is its superior coverage and network speed over other mobile service providers in America. Well, virtually to no one’s surprise, T-Mobile is countering Verizon’s effort with its own campaign encapsulates via the #BallBusterChallenge hashtag.
The Big Red references a specific study conducted by RootMetrics in which Verizon Wireless is recognized as the number wireless carrier in terms of data, voice calls, network speed, and reliability of service. Not to be outdone, T-Mobile cites a RootScore report that was based on data gathered during the first half of last year, just before the wireless carrier had expanded its LTE network that year across the US to more than twice its previous capability.
Essentially, T-Mobile is charging that the biggest wireless carrier in the America is actually misleading mobile users by making use of statistics that are no longer that updated, considering that T-Mobile has since doubled its LTE reach, plus its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) coverage, which now provides 40 percent of voice calls on T-Mobile’s network. On account of T-Mobile now covering an estimated 98 percent of Verizon Wireless’ customers, the Uncarrier has revealed its plans of pitting its network against Verizon by way of challenges all throughout the US.
Thus, the #BallBusterChallenge will have T-Mobile travel across the country, inviting current subscribers of the Big Red to test their network speed for data as well as the quality of their coverage for voice calls and text messaging. T-Mobile will then run the same tests on its own network, and if Verizon wins two out of three tests, the Verizon subscriber who takes the test will get to receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card. But if T-Mobile wins two out of three tests, the participating Verizon subscriber will be made to pose for T-Mobile’s cameras holding up a sign. Here’s the fun part: options for the text of the sign include “Verizon’s network just got spanked by T-Mobile #BallBusterChallenge” and “T-Mobile’s network just schooled Verizon #BallBusterChallenge”. Subscribers of T-Mobile can even put their friends and family to the test, especially those subscribing to other rival networks. They can just bring a buddy to participate in the test, and whoever gets to win two out of three tests gets to pocket the $100 prepaid card.
T-Mobile has not announced any start or end dates for #BallBusterChallenge yet. Meanwhile, you can start browsing more plans and phones from T-Mobile at Wirefly now.
