Grooveshark, one of our favorite online services, now has a much-improved Android App. Similar to Pandora and Slacker Radio, Grooveshark is an online radio service — with one defining differnetiator. Grooveshark lets you immediately stream virtually any song (or artist) instead of just songs similar to the selected track.
Grooveshark’s Android app is a free download from the Android Market, but requires a $3/month subscription to Grooveshark VIP. You can also opt for a $30/year subscription. Either way, we think that foregoing that late-night Dollar Menu binge once a month is a worthwhile investment to have a virtually limitless number of songs at your fingertips.
Though we did experience a few unexplainable crashes and slow downs during our time with Grooveshark’s Android app, we were able to quickly look past these minor inconveniences and bask in the glorious-ness that is hearing any song you want at any time you want.
Just like Grooveshark’s desktop version, you can create custom playlists, and listen to individual songs or the entire playlist. Playlists created on your desktop will automatically be available when you fire up Grooveshark on your phone, and vice-versa.
If you prefer, you can also let Grooveshark learn your taste in music and throw out songs it thinks you’ll like. You can then give songs a resounding “Love It!” or “No Thanks.”
Do yourself a favor and check out Grooveshark before you sign into Pandora again, and let us know what you think below.
