For some things, bigger is indeed better. One of those is the battery inside a cell phone, since a bigger battery usually translates into longer and more reliable operation. After all, who wants the battery to run out in the middle of a call or when you need to respond to an e-mail? The new HTC ThunderBolt for Verizon Wireless has received a lot of attention, but one thing that’s been hard to charcterize on the ThunderBolt is the battery life. In an effort to get our hands around the battery life of the HTC ThunderBolt, we decided to playback more than two hours of music videos and see how the battery was drained at the end of the test.

Starting with a full battery, the HTC ThunderBolt had about 30 percent of its battery life remaining after playing 32 YouTube music videos. During this time, the phone’s LCD display remained on for the entire test, with the brightness set above normal. For more details on the battery life – and a list of the songs played during the test – click on the video window to the right.

The HTC ThunderBolt is available at a great price from Wirefly.
