A few recent Android phones have hogged the limelight with flashy features and powerful architecture. However, not everyone needs to hang out at the edge of the Android envelope with a scorchingly hot phone – sometimes quiet competence has value, and such is the case with the LG Optimus S on the Sprint network.
Running Android 2.2 (the latest version of Google’s popular open operating system), the LG Optimus S has a 3.2-inch LCD screen, 3.2-megapixel camera and a large battery for extended talk times. The phone’s rounded edges let it fit comfortably in the hand – perhaps more importantly, it feels more comfortable in a pocket than a more squared-off device. The internals of the Optimus S won’t let it run with the class leaders, but all the great Android features are there, such as speech navigation, easy e-mail setup and access to Adobe Flash content across the Web.
