You aren’t able to see it while you’re composing a new message, but you know it’s there. It’s that pesky BlackBerry auto signature that appends itself to all your outgoing emails. While it may have its benefits (letting recipients know the message was sent from your BlackBerry so that they will perhaps be slightly more forgiving of your many typos), you may prefer something slightly more personalized. Luckily, changing the signature on your BlackBerry is a fairly quick and easy process.

Enterprise Users

Corporate BlackBerry users whose organization’s employ BlackBerry Enterprise Server can manage their auto signature from BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

  1. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager from your computer.
  2. Launch “Redirector Settings.”
  3. In the Redirector Settings window, navigate to the “General” tab.
  4. Click the “Auto signature” text box.
  5. Customize the text to your liking. If you want to completely remove the signature, leave the text field blank.
  6. Click “OK” to save your changes.
  7. Send yourself a test email from your BlackBerry to confirm your signature looks as desired.

Small Business and Personal Users

If you are not a corporate user, you can manage your device’s signature from the BlackBerry Internet Service portal (BIS: Alltel | AT&T | Sprint | T-Mobile | Verizon).

  1. Log into your account. Use the same credentials you would use to manage your Email Settings from the device. If you are unable to login and are unsure if you have created an account, click “Create New Account.”
  2. Click “Edit” for the email account you wish to change the signature on.
  3. Customize the text in the signature field to your liking. If you want to completely remove the signature, leave the text field blank.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Send yourself a test email from your BlackBerry to confirm your signature looks as desired.
