Key Differences

  • Operating system: The Motorola Droid is an Android-powered device, with a wealth of customization options, applications, and widgets along with powerful email and messaging features.  The Storm 2 is running BlackBerry’s familiar and enduring operating system that seasoned BlackBerry users have come to love for its push email solutions, applications, and more.
  • Display: The Motorola Droid (3.7-inch display, 480 x 854 pixels) has a larger, higher resolution display than the BlackBerry Storm 2 (3.25-inch display 480 x 3360 pixels). Both displays are touchscreen.
  • Camera: The Droid has a high quality 5MP camera with 4x digital zoom, flash and aut0- focus that is also capable of capturing DVD quality video at 24 frames-per-second. The BlackBerry Storm 2 has a somewhat less powerful camera with auto-focus and a 2x digital zoom.  The Storm 2 can also record video, but not at the same high quality as the Droid.
  • Design & keyboard: The Droid features a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard as well as an on-screen virtual keyboard, while the Storm 2 has no physical keyboard.  Equipped with the second generation of BlackBerry’s SurePress technology, the Storm 2 simulates a “click” sensation with each key press when using the virtual QWERTY keyboard or performing other operation on the touch screen.
  • Storage space: Both devices come pre-installed with a 16GB microSD card, but the Droid can support up to a 32GB card.  The Storm 2 also has 2GB of on-board memory, providing users with 18GB of storage space right out of the box.
