The HTC ThunderBolt broke all sales records for Wirefly when it was released on March 17, and interest in the phone remains high. Everyone wants to know how it compares to Apple’s popular iPhone 4, including how the cameras in the two phones compare.

Bob Kovacs at Wirefly ran the ThunderBolt and iPhone 4 through a series of tests to compare the phones’ cameras, including skin tones, color rendition and performance in the bright sun. Then he recorded similar video to see how the video compares. Click on the video to the right to see the results of these tests. The bottom line is that both the ThunderBolt and the iPhone 4 have competent cameras, but the ThunderBolt took the lead in skin tone and sunlight performance. The iPhone made better video, and had more natural-sounding audio that recorded with the video.

The HTC ThunderBolt is available at a great price from Wirefly.

  • The HTC really looks great. Can I use it with at&t?

    • Jael, the HTC ThunderBolt will not work with AT&T and can’t be made to work with AT&T. You might be able to get the HTC Sensation to work with an AT&T SIM, and the Sensation is a significantly more powerful phone than the ThunderBolt. FWIW, I just tried the Sensation with an AT&T SIM and it didn’t work, but there should be a way to unlock the phone so that it will work.
