  • so whats better for my verizon upgrade… iphone 4s, htc thunderbolt, or droid charge?? i currently have droid eris by htc, it is slow, freezes all the time, and has horrible battery life. i want something that is faster and never freezes up on me

    • Netty, Verizon has lots of great phones at the moment, including the ones you mention. There’s also the HTC Rezound, Motorola DROID RAZR and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which are in the same price range as the iPhone 4S. If you want something lower cost, there’s the ThunderBolt, DROID Charge, DROID RAZR, Pantech Breakout, Samsung Stratosphere and LG Revolution. All those are 4G phones. (By the way, the Apple iPhone 4S is a 3G device, not a 4G device.) If you want a physical keyboard, then the Stratosphere is the best keyboard phone around. If you don’t want a physical keyboard, then my personal favorite is the HTC Rezound. If you want a slim and lightweight phone, the DROID RAZR is excellent — it has a bigger display, yet weighs less than the iPhone 4S. You have lots of terrific choices on Verizon… hope that helps!

  • I AM LOOKING IN TO GETTING A SMARTPHONE ..WHAT ARE THE BEST KIND TO LOOK FOR…I HAVE VERIZON..PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DECISION…ANY HELP IS A PLUS FOR ME..THANKS

    • Linda, if you don’t already have a smartphone, I recommend starting with a good inexpensive smartphone. I recommend two Verizon Android phones that are either free or very low cost: the Pantech Breakout and the Samsung Stratosphere. Both of these are 4G phones that use Verizon’s speedy LTE network. If you are in an LTE city, the phone will work so fast that it’s a pleasure to use. The Pantech Breakout has a nice 4-inch display, and it is reasonably sized and lightweight. It has plenty of power and lots of features, such as GPS, full Internet browsing, music player, e-mail, Facebook compatibility and many others. Of course, it makes phone calls. The Samsung Stratosphere has a physical slide-out keyboard, which makes it bulkier and heavier than the Pantech Breakout. Otherwise, it has a beautiful display and nice performance. The keyboard on the Stratosphere is just about the best there is on any cell phone, and you can do the same things on the Stratosphere that you can on the Breakout.

      Hope that helps!

  • Looking to upgrade and am looking at the LG Revolution or the HTC Rhyme. One is a 4g and the other is a 3G. Any comments or suggestions for which is better? Thanks

    • Wanda, sorry to answer a question with a question, but I need to ask: Better for what, exactly? Both are nice phones. The LG Revolution is bigger with a bigger display, faster processor and 4G capability (as you noted). 4G is pretty addictive once you get used to it… afterwards, 3G will feel too slow. On the other hand, the HTC Rhyme is smaller and probably friendlier, with a great package of included accessories. Both phones will let you surf the web, do texts, check e-mail, make calls, set appointments, listen to music, play games, etc. You can surf the web faster on the Revolution. Listening to music and re-charging is more convenient on the Rhyme. So it comes down to what exactly you want to do with your phone.

      Hope that helps!

      Bob at Wirefly

      • I just need the phone to allow me to do the things you mentioned: check email, text and make calls. The other features such as music is just a plus. I use my phone for work and just want something realiable and that won’t break easy but having the music and other features is a huge plus to use when I travel. I have a 3g now. What is the speed difference with the 3g and 4g? I have heard the revolution is bulky, do you seem to find that true? But easy to navigate to.

        • Wanda, the LG Revolution is definitely more bulky and heavy than the HTC Rhyme. In fact, the Rhyme is downright sleek, slim and light. 4G is much faster than 3G, but not every location has 4G. When you have it though, it sure makes the Internet go faster. YouTube videos are ready to play in a couple of seconds, instead of taking half a minute to get started. And there’s no stopping to wait for a video to buffer… it just plays.

From what you’ve said, I have the impression that the HTC Rhyme would be a good match for you. I think you’ll enjoy the interesting accessories that come with the phone (the docking station and the charm), and the Rhyme is small and stylish. The Rhyme will do all the tasks you mentioned and look good doing them.

  • T-Mobile is terminating one of our phones because they say it is roaming too often. :( (My husbands new job has taken him where T-Mobile apparently does not service and so it is often using other networks.) I have to say that I was not aware they could do that, I guess I should read the contract more closely. Anyway, we currently have a family plan with 2 phones on it and if they are terminating the one phone we want to move all of them (and the one fortunate thing is since they are terminating it there will be no early termination fee.) I have to admit I have been becoming much less enamored of T-Mobile in the past year (I used to REALLY like them) so I guess this all works out for the better.

Since we are moving everything whole sale I have been trying to decide on the type of phones and plans to go with them. Right now we have 2 G2 phones with unlimited data as well as a Nokia Nuron with what they call Phone First web. There is unlimited texting for all of them and we share minutes. T-Mobile has offered to unlock the phones we have so they can be used on another network.

So, now I need to decide what carrier to go with (that has service in New Mexico) as well as whether to keep our G2 phones (and have them unlocked) or to get new ones. I will admit that the IPhone looks very cool – but it is worth the cost? Also, am considering when we move wherever we go, getting my son an IPhone either way since he carries his IPod touch everywhere along with his phone and then he could have just one device.

    So…thoughts everyone?

    • Deborah, if your HTC G2 phones and the Nokia Nuron are to be unlocked, you have only one good alternative for service: AT&T. Among the big national carriers, only AT&T’s technology is compatible with T-Mobile. Depending on the cellular “bands” supported by the G2 and Nuron, you may get reduced data speeds. Then again, your speeds may stay the same… I can’t say for sure without doing a lot more research.

Interestingly, AT&T and T-Mobile just signed an agreement that gives T-Mobile extended roaming privileges on AT&T’s network. I assume that agreement kicks in next year (2012), so you might want to ask T-Mobile if the roaming issue will go away in a couple months.

Otherwise, the other two big national carriers are Sprint and Verizon. See if you can borrow a friend’s Sprint or Verizon phone to check the coverage of those networks where you will be needing coverage. I can tell you that both Sprint and Verizon would be delighted to welcome you as a customer, and can fix you up with family plans similar to what you have now. Sprint tends to be less expensive but Verizon’s coverage is often a bit better. Therefore, a lot rides on knowing if Sprint has good coverage where you need it.

You can call Wirefly at 866-852-3216 to speak to a sales agent who can walk you through various phones and plans. If you like the G2 with its physical keyboard, then you will probably enjoy the Samsung Epic 4G (Sprint) or Samsung Stratosphere (Verizon), both of which are very similar. Sprint also has the HTC EVO Shift, which might remind you of the G2. Verizon has the Motorola DROID 3, which has a nice display and a good slide-out keyboard. Of course, both carriers have lineups of excellent non-keyboard phones if you want to go in that direction. They both have phones with the functions of the Nokia Nuron as well.

      Good luck… hope that helps!

  • I take alot of pictures, and transfer to pc. What is the best megapixel phone to buy?

    • Stefanie, it’s not really about the number of megapixels, it’s about the overall quality of the camera. I had a couple dozen photos that I took with a 1.3-megapixel camera published in magazines, and they looked fine. That said, I would not get less than 5 megapixels for a cell phone camera if you are serious about photos. There are many phones available today with 5MP or larger sensors that take decent (if not spectacular) photos.

  • Stop Bickering
    December 27, 2011

I would like to thank the other users out there who keep repeating the message “STOP BICKERING” over which is better – Droids or iPhones. Each OS system has its merits. My husband has an iPhone but likes to play with my Droid. I’ve never had issues with my Droid but it’s an older model so I sometimes find it easier to multi-task on my husband’s iPhone.

I’m looking to upgrade my phone and visited this site to view users’ comments on both the Droid and iPhone. I am now tired and annoyed with the bullying and name calling on BOTH sides of the table. Stop acting like obnoxious tweens. Let the rest of us use this site as it was intended – to ask questions about phone features to determine the best phone for our individual taste, not yours.

  • My wife has been bugging me to go with ATT and get the new I-Phone 4S. I have been with Verizon and get a $100.00 discount on my phone. Do any other phones offer the face to face talk time like the 4S? Can you search the web while talking like on the I-Phone 4S? I heard the Samsung Galay 2 is a good phone. Not very savvy when it comes to cell phones and I tild the boss (er-wife) that I would get our cell phone plan taken care of after Christmas. Any suggestions? Meery Christmas to all….

    Steve

    • Steve, LOTS of other phones have video chat capability like the iPhone. However, only the iPhone uses the app called “FaceTime.” All other phones have many similar apps available, most of which will also run on the iPhone. Some of these apps are Skype, Tango, Fring and oovoo, and there are others. I recommend Tango, which runs on both the iPhone and on Android phones, and it will work either connected to WiFi or your carrier’s network. (FaceTme for the iPhone works only with WiFi.)

The Samsung Galaxy S II phones are all excellent. The T-Mobile and AT&T versions are called the Galaxy S II, and the Sprint version is called the Epic 4G Touch. Verizon does not have a version of the Galaxy S II. However, two excellent high-end phones for Verizon are the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. They both have features that the iPhone does not, including higher-resolution displays, 4G connectivity and, in the case of the Rezound, iBeats earphones and a memory expansion slot. Once you get used to Verizon’s 4G (called LTE), it is hard to go back to something slower, such as the iPhone.

      Hope this helps!

      Bob at Wirefly

      • So does the HTC Rezound Verizon 4G interface with itunes? I used to have an Ipod and have a lot of music on Itunes. Also does the HTC Rezound have a port that would plug into an ipod speaker?

        • Frog, you can sync with iTunes in a limited way with any Android phone. If you have a Mac computer, try the Salling Media Sync software for your Mac. If you have a PC, use doubleTwist on your PC to sync with iTunes. As for the “limited” part, an Android phone will only play files that are not protected. If music files have iTunes’ DRM (digital rights management) protection, you can’t play those on an Android phone. Only an Apple device will play DRM-protected files.

          Hope that helps!

Want to know about the cost of an unlimited calls and unlimited data plan

    • Gud, Sprint is the only company offering completely unlimited data plans. Your best bet to get correct pricing for your situation is to call Wirefly at 866-852-3216 and explain your needs to a sales agent.

Actually they got their info wrong YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE THE HOME SCREEN ON THE IPHONE I’VE DONE IT ON MINE….and the 4S is 4G capable…..as for Doug’s Comment I have used a droid and I now have an iPhone and you couldn’t pay me enough to go back to the piece of crap droid

    • Chris – you don’t know what you are talking about. Please spend all day trying to connect your iPhone to a 4G network – and let us know when you connect.

No current or previous iPhone is 4G capable….please stop posting and wasting precious webpage space.

      • The iPhone for AT&T is capable of 4g HSPA+ given that it is not true 4g so he is right. And the iPhone is honestly better than any android phone in my opinion. I’ve had both and I honestly believe that the fragmented Android system limits capabilities. Wirefly employees will recommend any Android phone over any iPhone.

    • chris hi u need to put it to the test yes it is a nice phone but for the money NO !!!!!
THE EVO 4G IS THE BEST BUY ITS FASTER AND YOU CAN DO MORE WITH IT AND IT IS 4G
AND WILL BEAT IPHONE AND ANY TEST SO SAVE SOME MONEY IN GET A EVO .

      • on the evo being faster on 4G.you have to be in an area tht gets 4G before you can use it.
i have an evo 4G “capable” but no one can give me a date when 4G is going to be available in my area.have been having problems with it lately like like volume on a call barely able to hear other person and freezing up. i’m getting the iphone 4s. 4g only works if you can get it

I have the Droid 2 and it SUCKS. My son has the same phone, it has been replaced and the new phone has the same problems. Verizon didnt even offer me any solutions. I want the IPHONE and will NEVER buy a droid again. It is a piece of GARBAGE. Watch out with verizon, they are getting so big that their customers are just numbers. All they care about is the bottom line.

  • Will wirefly offer the Galaxy Nexus when released? If so will the price match the $199 of the Droid Razr?

    • David, Wirefly will definitely have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but I won’t know the price until the phone launches. At the moment, the Galaxy Nexus is expected to launch on Friday, Dec. 9.

      Bob at Wirefly

  • What do I do: iPhone or a DROID RAZR by Motorola (4G LTE)?

    • KK, I recommend the DROID RAZR. It can do everything the iPhone can do, and has a much bigger and nicer display. The 4G connection speeds are amazing when compared to the iPhone’s 3G. Really, the DROID RAZR is a much better phone.

      Bob at Wirefly

    • Go on YouTube and look at the phone test, as they put cell phones up against one another to find the best one. Then make your pick.

  • I need to make a quick decision regarding type of phone to order. I just ordered and returned the Samsung Galaxy S for T-Mobile and had issues with very low volumne when connecting to my Parrot bluetooth speakerphone device in the car. From reading all the boards on the internet I leared that this is a common problem with the Android phones/operating system. I would like to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile , or perhaps the Samsung Nexus with 4.0 operating system but don’t know if these will take care of my low volume issues. Any word on whether this issue has been resolved? Since I can not get an iPhone for T-Mobile, perhaps my only choice would be to get a windows phone? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    • Ron, I’m afraid that I have no information on the problem that you had. My only suggestion is to go to a friendly T-Mobile store and see if you can try various phones out until you find one that works for you. I am not familiar with the Parrot bluetooth device and do not have one to test.

      Good luck!

      Bob at Wirefly

  • Bob I’ve heard conflicting stories about getting insurance from Verizon after purchasing phones/contract from wirefly. Can you confirm that if I buy a family plan and 3 phones (all on verizon) that I can call into Verizon once I receive my phones and get them covered? I’m from WA state and wirefly doesn’t offer their protection plan in WA.

    • Mike, yes you definitely can call Verizon to have your phones covered, once you receive them. You will have 30 days to contact Verizon and arrange for insurance coverage. And you are correct that Wirefly does not offer MDPA coverage in Washington state, however Verizon will definitely provide coverage.

      Thanks for shopping with Wirefly!

      Bob at Wirefly

  • Is the iphone 4 the only phone you can watch netflix on?

    • Nikki, there are many phones that will run Netflix. Probably a couple dozen of the better Android phones will run Netflix, including the HTC EVO 3D, HTC ThunderBolt, LG Revolution, HTC Rezound, Motorola DROID Bionic and DROID RAZR, HTC Sensation and Amaze, Samsung Epic 4G Touch and many others.

      Bob at Wirefly

    • NO IT IS NOT… I WATCH NETFLIX ON MY ANDROID ALL THE TIME.

  • Does Verizon sell Iphones?

  • Just Real
    November 13, 2011

    Good Day All, :D

I’m not sure if you’re aware or not but each IPhone is carrier specific, meaning each carrier has its own specific highlights that only they have rights to. Like being able to surf the web and talk, that’s only for att cx, each carrier has something the other doesn’t, I’m sure in attempt to lure you to sign a contract with them. “Just another form of politics” I really don’t understand what all the bickering back and forth is all about, since we as humans will forever have our “own” opinions about “everything”… It’s okay to voice those opinions, as well as it’s okay for one to disagree; but bicker??? C’mon!!! Some of the things that have been said that aren’t possible, allowed, or capable I’ve seen done with these phones so like I noted before it could just be the carrier that you’ve looked into or the person has whos phone you checked out… It could be any number of reasons; just know that you’re happy with which ever phone you choose to go with and that’s all that matters. :) Anyway, I’ve had my Blackberry Curve for what seems like forever and up until the last 5+ months I had absolutely no problems with it what so ever… Now every time I even think about picking it up that jacked up hour glass starts flipping, over & over….. So I’ve been researching both the “Droid” and “IPhone 4S” and have yet to come up with my final decision. Just like “Bob from Wirefly” said I have asked several people, friends & family members alike that use or have used either of these phones and every single one of them tell me something different, just as you all have in your reviews. The things I hear the most about the “Droid” are that the battery life isn’t all that great and it freezes or locks up a lot, well since what I’m trying to get away from is my phone freezing up, that would be a “con” and since I use my phone for just about everything, battery life is pretty important “con 2″. I’m not trying to rush into anything because I plan on holding on to whichever one I choose, & hype plays no factor what so ever… As far as the “1 con” I have for the IPhone 4S so far is the non expandable memory… I guess you could say I’m at my wits end… LOL, any “Positively put input” would help…

    Thanks,

Also, “Bob from Wirefly” just so you know, your honesty and professionalism in handling each cx comment, statement, question, etc didn’t go un-noticed…. Keep up the good and positive work….

    Respectfully,

    Just Real :D

    • JR, I’m in the same quandry. My BB curve has turned into a POS for the last 5 months since the latest software upgrade. I’m in hte same camp as you are, but my decision is complicated by my laptop (MAC). I know the droids CAN connect and interface with a Mac, but I really dont have time to hack all that either. I get it that it doesn’t handle flash, but guess what folks? More and more companies are moving away from flash. You just have to get your hands on the phones and check them out. Ask questions about the OS updates on the droid phones, then you make the call. I’m going iPhone, but my wife still loves her G1 android phone and really doesn’t want to change her phone.

    • JUST REAL ///I HAD THE SAME BLACKBERRY NOW I HAVE THE EVO 4G I LOVE IT AND IT HAS ITS OWN HARD DRIVE MADE IN IT THAT U CAN USE AS A BACK UP OR DONWLOAD ON TO
AND YES U CAN UPGRADE THE MEMORY U CAN DO LOTS OF THINGS WITH THIS PHONE
I HAD MY PHONE FOR A YR NOW IN EXPERIMENTED WITH IT BE CUZ THATS WHAT I DO LOL
IN I WIPED OUT MY WHOLE AND HAD TO RELOAD IT AND YES ITS A FREE SITE FOR THAT
I CAN TELL U A LOT MORE AS TO WHY I LOVE THIS PHONE BUT IM NOT HERE TO SELL U A PHONE BUT I WILL HELP U SAVE SOME MOEY LOL
JUST GO TO YOUTUBE IN COMPARE THE PHONES TYPE IN THE TWO PHONES U LIKE SOME ONE HAVE COMPARED THEM GOOD LUCK SAVE SOME MONEY

I need help! Im due for my upgrade now per verizon but Dec for wirefly (dont know how thta makes sense). Im really debating on which phone to get. The iphone 4 or a droid. Im a big texted and starting to use the apps and what not right now. my wife just got the iphone 4 and loves it. Ive played around with it and seems very easy to use. which phone would you suggest? I use my phone alot and need a good battery life? Also, can i still get insurance for my phone if i go through wirefly? if so how do i do it? Thanks

    • Babyshoes, first, Wirefly does not sell the iPhone, so you will have to buy that elsewhere if that is what you decide. I personally prefer the Motorola DROID Bionic and the upcoming Motorola DROID RAZR looks excellent as well. Both are MUCH faster than the iPhone 4 and both have fast 4G connection speeds, while the iPhone 4 is a 3G device. Battery life depends an awful lot on how you use your phone, and I don’t have good personal experience with battery life on any of these devices. What I do know is that if you ask 10 different people, you will get 10 different answers.

Wirefly can sell you MDPA device protection, or you can get insurance through Verizon. Whichever you decide, you have to get it within 30 days of purchase.

      Hope that helps!

      Bob at Wirefly

  • I’d like to buy an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100) with international warranty for use overseas. I don’t see any of these offered for sale at Wirefly. Do you expect to carry them in the near future or can they be special ordered?

    • Dave, Wirefly does not sell the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II. We have only the versions for Sprint and T-Mobile.

      Bob at Wirefly

  • How is the Android operating system compared to iOS 5?

    • Surya, I think Android compares favorably with iOS5. Both are easy to use and have lots of power, both undergo regular updates and they offer similar features. Where Android really shines is that the same competent OS can be used in a huge variety of devices, from tablets to phones of all sizes, with and without keyboards. While iOS runs only on Apple’s one-size-fits-all iPhone and iPad, Android runs on phones both bigger and smaller than the iPhone, as well as on a variety of tablets of various sizes. It’s the variation in Android hardware that is Android’s biggest strength, I think.

      Bob at Wirefly

      • I believe that it running on different devices fragments the system. It can only run on different devices because the carriers tweek it to their likings and add their bloatware.

  • i want to now if i ggot a phine and i want a nother one how much would it $?

    • Sabriya, the cost for any phone depends on which phone you want. I suggest you look at Wirefly.com to check for the latest prices.

      Bob at Wirefly

  • Help from somebody please!
    A T-mobile family plan customer
    Switching from blackberry to unknown!!.
but considering HTC AMAZE or Samsung Galaxy S11 vs I-phone ( verizon; sprint: At&T)
If i decide to go with I-phone, which carrier has the best servive and of course cost effective for family plan with unlimited minutes.
    Urgent comments and responses please.
    Thanks all.

    • Onye, Wirefly does not sell the iPhone, so you’re on your own for that. However, both the HTC Amaze and the Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile are excellent phones, and I prefer them to the iPhone.

      Good luck shopping!

      Bob at Wirefly

    • They say AT&T is the best service w/ the IPhone, but I think it’s a Cheaper plan through Sprint. I’m a Sprint Customer and my plan has more features like unlimited texting, and my Nights and weekends starts at 7 pm. My brother has no texting. (he doesn’t want to pay extra for it) and my bill is still cheaper than his.

  • does this website sale the iphone4

  • Ok, i get a new phone in march. I really want an iphone. Right now i have the motorola rival a455. I absolutely hated it. Should i get the iphone 3g for free, a 4 for good price and wait for 5, or get the 4s for faster loading and stuff?

    • Kristen, Wirefly doesn’t sell the iPhone, so we are probably not the best ones to ask about your iPhone choices. In general, I recommend getting the best phone you can afford, as long as you can still pay the rent. Don’t buy more phone than you can afford, but you will generally be happier with more power and features, than with less power and fewer features.

There are LOTS of great Android smartphones available for Verizon, and the choices will be even better by March. By then, you will be able to get an Android phone that is significantly more powerful and has a better display than any version of iPhone. The Android phone will also connect to Verizon’s 4G LTE network, which the iPhone won’t do. But again… get the best you can afford. That usually works best in the long run.

      Bob at Wirefly

    • you should get it

  • Need a new phone! Is the Iphone 4S good or is it just hype. I’m currently on T-mobile and have no problem getting a Droid that’s worth it. Have been considering getting 4S on Sprint, but hearing the carrier isn’t too good.

Any advice on what droid to purchase from T-mobile; or should I jump ship for Iphone?

(I know Verizon is an option but very $$$$)

    Thx

    • Orod, T-Mobile has lots of great Android phones, including the HTC Amaze and the Samsung Galaxy S II. Those are two top-of-the-line phones for T-Mobile and both compete well against the iPhone 4S. As for Sprint, I have had good luck with Sprint for several years, but a lot depends on Sprint’s coverage where you live and spend your time. If you get good coverage from Sprint, you’ll be happy with Sprint. (The same is true for other carriers.)

I made a Wirefly “Schmackdown” video that compares the iPhone 4S to the Samsung Epic 4G Touch on Sprint, which you can see by clicking here.

      Good luck!

      Bob at Wirefly

    • Orod
I have had Sprint service for a year now and have had to problems. I switched from Verizon and seem to have the very same coverage but, it cost alot less. I to am wanting to try out the IPhone 4S – have heard good things about it.

  • Hi! I am currently a verizon member and I qualify for an upgrade. I have had the Blackberry Curve twice then the Blackberry Bold for the last (3) contract times. My question….I am debating between the iphone4s or the upcoming Droid Razr which is to be released next month. I am mainly looking for: text to talk (i’m a huge texter :) , a good camera with flash, an LED indicator that can be customized for incoming texts… email, fbook etc.(i am a teacher and I like to be able to just look at my phone on my desk in the back of the room to see if I have (for example)a purple light=text – red light=email – blue light=facebook etc. That way I am not interrupted in class unless it is an emergency (I have three teenagers and if they need me I need to know if it is an emergency or not) and a decent lasting battery. Also I have heard rumors that Apple is coming out with the iphone 5 in the spring of 2012, any truth to this? Any expert info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    • Mitch, starting with your last item, no one knows anything about the Apple iPhone 5 except for Apple. No blogger, no newspaper, no vendor, nobody… only Apple knows and Apple almost never talks about such things. Therefore, we have no idea if/when there will be an iPhone 5. If anyone says they know, they are either not being honest or are just repeating ill-advised gossip.

I haven’t seen the DRIOD RAZR but I have used the iPhone 4S. I anticipate the DROID RAZR being better in several ways than the iPhone 4S, including screen size, 4G capabilty and overall speed. You should be able to do all the things you described. However, I have not actually seen the phone yet, so to be fair, I can’t really say for sure.

      Good luck!

  • Is the iphone available for verizon?? and also I really want an app called instagram. Is it available on Droid? or just the iphone? I have the original droid, its getting kinda slow. Am eligable to upgrade in january.

    • Rachel, yes, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are both available for Verizon. Of course, there are lots of much faster phones today than the original Motorola DROID, and Verizon has a couple of excellent phones that will launch in the next couple of weeks.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  • I’m having a huge debate with myself right now my phone is up for a upgrade and i definatly want to. but i don’t know if i want the iphone or the new galaxy s 2. I’ve heard great things about both… Can you help me?

    • Tiffani, I recently posted a “Schmackdown” video that compares the new iPhone 4S with the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, which is the version of the Galaxy S II that runs on Sprint. You can watch that video by clicking on this link.

Bottom line: I recommend the Samsung Epic 4G Touch for its much faster network speed, larger display and lower weight.

      Hope that helps!

      Bob at Wirefly

    • galaxy s is WAY better!

  • Dear Wirefly,
I am upgrading from original Verizon Droid. Biggest headache is how, even when using “Advanced Task Killer” app, there’s a constant stream of programs running in the background, which slows down the phone. I kill most apps then suddenly there’s more running I didn’t start. I perceive, from using my ipad and Ipod touch, that the Iphone 4S won’t have this problem. Comment ?

    • Allen, I don’t really have anything to say except that the original Motorola DROID is going on two years old and there are many newer phones with much faster hardware and software. I suggest that you stop at a Verizon store to try the DROID 3 out. If you’d like a phone without a keyboard, take a look at the DROID Bionic — it’s exceedingly fast, and runs on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Wirefly has good prices on both phones.

      Bob at Wirefly

    • Allen, I am having that problem with my Droid2 as well. Crappy phone if I may say so. I told the tech rep at Verizon about it and she couldn’t tell me what that was all about. This is my 3rd one in a yr. Too many issues. I’m looking at the Iphone now.

The battery on the iPhone 4s is user replaceable!

    • Zack, Using the same argument, you could say that your car’s shock absorbers or alternator is user replaceable.

The iPhone battery is replaceable with a special tool and some training. Meanwhile, almost all Android phones have batteries that can be replaced without tools and with no training. In fact, if you buy an unactivated Android phone, you almost always have to install the battery. In most cases, it literally takes less than 10 seconds. Compared to that, replacing an iPhone battery is much more difficult.

  • The commercials for sprint that say their service is so fast is funny.I have a droid HTC and it sucks and I had an I phone and it was awesome, wish I would have stayed with the I-phone :( for those wanting to know why my phone sucks well it sends texts messages over and over again whenever it wants like it is possed, it locks up ALL the time I mean sometimes I cant even answer my phone and the service is slow slow slow most of the time and thats just to mention a few. I brought it back quite afew times to get fixed only to have it screw up right away and the insurance I bought is garbage because they want me to pay 100$ everytime I get a new phone with no guarantee that phone will work. I asked about getting an I-phone only to have sprint say I would have to pay the full price. I would stay with sprint if they allowed me to get the I-phone at the rate of a new user but Im a year into my current contract and I was told I would have to wait to get that rate until my contract is over and i will just not with sprint. bottom line I-phones rock and droids do not not to mention sprint not having customer service as a top priority.

    • Jimmy, I’m a little confused. The DROID model line is on Verizon, not Sprint.Do you have a DROID phone on Verizon or some other phone on Sprint?

Jimmy, I bet you have the htc evo, because I’m having the same problems. You can replace it for the i-phone 4s at the $200 (roughly) price after 20 months, actually. Rather than go via phone to the insurance to replace your evo, the best way is to bring it into a Sprint-owned store not a third-party owned Sprint store. I have replaced mine for free 5 times that way. While their customer service may, at times, be annoying, I have found that they are a really good group of folks buried beneath the automatic audio responses. If you find someone who won’t answer your question clearly, just call back and speak to someone else. If you think their customer service is bad, try some of the other providers. I have heard horror stories from my friends who have Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile. I do not work for Sprint, but out of laziness have kept them as my cell provider for almost 13 years. The quality of customer service has improved tremendously.
      Good Luck.

  • Can someone tell me who i can write to about the htc droid incredible freezing up? mine froze twice i had to power down to get it to work again. also, it rebooted and i lost my msgs and photos on there! is there an app for three-way calling and disconnecting of one of the callers without hanging up on all three? or how about just clicking over and ending call without tying the line up? i don’t find the feature on the phone itself! The only phone i saw that had that feature was nokia…. i miss the nokia it is a superior phone but i see they don’t have any models for verizon. the touch phones have major issues at one time or another freezing up. and also, i have issues with htc going to their marketplace! they force you to get a google account and it never remembers your password and it is such a hassle to log in! i hope htc remedies this otherwise i am considering going back to the regular phone touch sucks! at least that has been my experience thus far….

    • Kee, your best bet is to take your DROID Incredible to a Verizon store and have them look at it.

I use a LOT of different phones and find that they generally work best when I power them down at least once per week. If you leave them on for weeks at a time, they often act a little oddly. Perhaps that is happening to your phone.

i power mine down at least once a day. Even that doesn’t always work. But it only seems to freeze about 2-3 times a week, as opposed to daily.

Reason why the lable Iphone like that is because they dont carry them. For those of us who want them. So they try to sell what they have by downing Iphone

    • I have to agree with the comment about the iIphone being low graded just to keep pushing garbage android phones…..

  • Okay, really weird question but I have to ask anyway. I have a fairly old Palm phone from AT&T. (I know, I know, big eye roll here.) I need a new phone, but I love the way I can do so much with my Palm. I don’t like AT&T and would like to be rid of them. So, my question is: which phone will give me all the capabilities of my (old) Palm (calendar, lists, memos, etc.) but also allow me to ditch AT&T?

    • Jane, there’s nothing weird about your question at all!

Just about any Android and/or Windows Phone 7 phone will do much more than your old Palm phone, including keeping a calendar, create lists/memos, and so on. The good news is that all carriers have excellent models of both of these types of phones. Other than what you mentioned, what would you like in a phone? Do you want the latest and most powerful phone? Or do you want a good, affordable (free?) phone? In addition to Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile, Wirefly also sells “no-contract” phones for Boost Mobile, metroPCS, Virgin Mobile and some others. Have you considered a no-contract phone? (One good choice for a no-contract phone is the new Samsung Transform Ultra for Boost Mobile. Be careful to get the Transform Ultra and not the Tranform. The Transform Ultra is much improved over the Transform.)

Once you give me some ideas on a price range, I can steer you to good phones in that range.

      Thanks for thinking of Wirefly!

      Bob at Wirefly

      • If it has a front-facing camera, sometimes labelled VGA in the phone specs, you can use Tango, which I do, or Fring, but there are apps in the market, just search “video chat” or something. Gtalk, Google’s chat service is integrating video into their app too, and there are hacked versions already that have this.

    • any smart phone from verizon and some new flip phones also might have most of them qualities! i have verizon and for 3 phone with internet and texting its about 150 200 a month! i get service practically everywhere and when i had sprint i had next to no service anywhere in my house! verizon is a good way to go!
      Thank You~

  • 1). Is there a app for face to face on the Motorola Droid?

2). And is there a app that I can use by turning on lights in my home for Droid as well? I heard that Apple has a app for that.

So confused on what to get, Droid or Apple. PLEASE HELP!!

    • Lady, I will need to know which Motorola DROID modelyou are asking about. There is at least one Motorola DROID phone that does not have a front-facing camera, and the lack of a front-facing camera makes video chat more difficult.Multiple other Motorola DROID phones do have front-facing cameras, so it depends on model you have.

An Android app you can use to control home lights is called DroidSeer X10 Home Automation. This is a paid app, not a free app. DroidSeer X10 Home Automation works with fairly common X10 automation devices to control lights and other home items. You may have to leave a computer on in your home to coordinate controlling the lights.

      Hope that helps!

  • Does the Droid have the feature, like the iphone 4s advertised on commercial? I’m shopping for a new phone, not sure which is better? Looking for for exact feature of the iphone 4s does Droid and other phones have it?

    • Kim, I assume you are asking about Siri, the “personal digital assistant” for the new iPhone 4S. There are similar apps for Android phones but not the exact same thing. Then again, the iPhone 4S doesn’t have the excellent voice-guided navigation app that is free on Android phones, and it can’t display embedded YouTube videos, and it doesn’t come close to the network speeds available for Verizon’s, Sprint’s and T-Mobile’s 4G Android phones.

But if you want Siri, that is only available for the iPhone 4S.

      Bob at Wirefly

  • Cool comparision. You have fight with ATT, not us.
Iphone is King. It will go deep, even if others have thousands of more features.
You can not beat IPhone. It is like Tiger or Loin or King, other all are other animals.

  • Cool Chart whoever made this but you are totally wrong.

I-Phones have 4G and all that other fancy stuff.

    totally wrong!!!

    I-PHONES ROCK!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!

    • Actually, Ramesh, only the iPhone 4S has a form of 4G… and only the GSM versions of the iPhone 4S. And it’s not a particularly fast form of 4G. The iPhone 4 and earlier Apple phones are all 3G devices, not 4G.

Ramesh iphones dont have 4g not even the new one.

  • When will Spring customers be able to purchase an iPhone via Wirefly?

    • Dee, Wirefly does not sell the Apple iPhone, unfortunately. You will have to check with Sprint or Apple on that.

Thanks for thinking of us, though!

Why doesn’t Wirefly sell the iphone?

        • Wirefly has no physical retail stores — we sell only on the Internet. Apple sells only in physical retail stores, except for Apple’s own online store. And that’s why none of the online-only vendors sell the iPhone.

I’m in agreement with the iPhone. Better quality, battery life, better apps, more stable that everyone tries to copy or compare to. The only thing missing is a solid carrier. Dropped calls are from the cellular provider not the hardware. I’ve had nothing but trouble with my Android phone from day one and still have problems that Sprint nor Samsung wish to address. To be fair my personal experience with this particular phone, the Samsung Epic 4g failure should not be blamed on Android. I still believe that Apple is still the best phone out there. The only way Sprint will save face with me is if they either upgrade me to the Samsung Epic 4g or let me upgrade to the iPhone when it comes to Sprint and we know I have a better chance at winning the lottery. Sprint just keeps taking away from the customer and yet they can easily shell out $20 billion for Motorola. None of that investment is going to do much good if you keep losing your customers. When are you going to wake up Sprint? People are getting tired of the lack of support as well as taking away all the benefits the loyal customers used to have. Now you’re capping wifi hotshot, what next our data plan, the one thing you have over the other carries. Well that was my off topic rant. Thanks for listening. =)

    • Jim, just for the record, it is Google that is trying to buy Motorola, not Sprint. And I thought the cost was $12 billion, not $20 billion. Either way, that’s more money than I have!

the iPhone is now on Sprint, this page needs to be updated!

    • Jim, I hate to say this but Apple is proprietary in everything they do. Where as Android is open source and many apps available and can be upgraded or rewritten by the software developer and be available for download, where Apple has to approve and check it out. Phones are much better, where you get higher MP for the camara, up-gradable memory, replaceable battery, and lots of stuff to change your Android phone in to the phone you want and the things you use the most. I have the new Samsung Epic 4g Touch and it’s a great fun. Some minor bugs, but I’m sure they will be worked out. Reason number one I never bought Apple…got to use what they offer same with Microsoft. This is why I use Linux for a lot of stuff. But, we all have our choices. Just wanted to jump in and give my 2 cents on how I can bet that Android phones will dominate the market. They are not that far behind Apple right now. OH and for those reading this…go to Sprint for service, because if we loose Sprint and/or AT&T merges with T-Mobile…watch what will happen with Phone pricing and service. Once again AT&T is becoming a Power House. The Unlimted plan is a really great plan..just switched from Verizon to Sprint.

    • Jim you are so correct I had nothing but issues with sprint so I wnt to verzion and all my troubles went away it is not the phone it is the carrier and verzion and ATT have the best corvages and thay both use Iphiones and droids OS

  • There is no smart phone like iphone am not bothering myself with anyother phone iphone is the bomb take it or leave it

  • I don’t worry abt any or any mobile I like the iPhone because iPhone are the master piece of all the android and all so I won’t worry abt any mobile

  • To Dean- I did not have good reception at all with my iphone at my house. One day I received a letter in the mail from att, they gave me FREE OF CHARGE an m-cell device. Its like having your own tower in your home. its awesome! Also, att has roll over min. verizon does not!

    • my att reception sucks at home & is worse yet at work. i’ve reported connectivty issues to them on many occasions thru the app that they created for that purpose, but they have never made any mention of that m-cell device, nor have they ever followed up to try to correct my service in any other way. that contract runs out in a few more weeks & i will (with great pleasure) be leaving att behind !

I was really confused about Dan’s comment until I saw the date. I was wondering if he was talking about the IPhone 3G that came out b4 IPhone4. You can multi-task on 4G, and as far as paying extra, even if you have the droid you have to still pay extra for the gps service, atleast you do with Verizon anyway. And drop calls? I thought that had to do more with the carrier than the phone itself. I rarely have a drop call on verizon and I have upgraded 3 times since I’ve been with them.

    • I Have the Droid 2 from verizon. You do not have to pay xtra for gps service. That is only if you go into Verizon’s personal navigation. You need to set up a google account which is really fast and simple, go to yourselves free aps and download google navigation ap or gps. You’ll see it. It’s all free on the droids.

Dan – relax! It’s just a phone man. Don’t be so angry about an electronic device. If you want to hate something why don’t you try hating a Prius… just kidding just chill.

By the way Dan – iPhone generates revenue here in the US – pretty cool right? Lot’s of “Jobs” here in California – what do you bring to the table? So chill.

  • yeah 70,000 aps, GReat reception on the iphone…. LOL!!!! Android market over 125,000 apps, Great receptions AND YOUR CALLS DONT DROP!!!!!!!!!! , oh and does the iPhone multitask? NOPE! the Droid does, Hey Why not use your GPS on your iPhone.. OOOHHHH you have to pay EXTRA for that?!?!!? ZOMG! Free with the Verizon Droid. $300 for that POS?! and you HAVE to use iTunes?! Have you ever seen the Apple File system? no you can’t… Can on the droid. Can the iPhone run an FTP server? nope…. you can keep your ecofriendly iPhone.. I’ll do more with my Droid.

Dan, shut up. You’re wrong about all of those. The iPhone is superior by far!!!

      • I have to laugh I have several friends with iphones and I have an android, they swear iphone is the best but have they ever even used a droid? Nope. Both the iphone and android devices are great devices people need to get over this bickering over which one is best and some how making themselves feel surperior because they have one or the other I like my android, I’ve had an iphone I will keep my android but will not bad mouth those who choose to use an iphone. (Great for you). For those of us with Androids (Great for us). People just give it a rest both phones will be with us for a very long time.
