Key Differences
- Display: Perhaps the most obvious difference between the Motorola DROID 2 Global and the DROID Pro is the screen sizes and resolutions. The DROID 2 Global has a 3.7-inch, 480 x 854-pixel LCD screen that has the highest resolution available on any Android phone. The DROID Pro has a 3.1-inch, 480 x 320-pixel LCD screen that allows room on the front of the phone for the QWERTY keyboard.
- Operating system: Both devices are powered by Google’s Android 2.2 operating system, which is the latest version available. Android 2.2, combined with the fast processors in both phones, provides excellent touchscreen response and fast operation. Android 2.2 also offers full support for Adobe Flash content.
- Display: Perhaps the most significant difference between the two devices are their displays. The DROID 2 Global (3.7″ TFT display, 480×854 pixels) has a significantly larger display than that of the DROID Pro (3.1″ TFT display, 480×320 pixels). As far as display resolution goes, the DROID 2 Global matches the current highest resolution available on any Android phone. While the added display real estate will undoubtedly provide a great movie watching and web browsing experience, the DROID 2 Global’s sizable display and slide-out keyboard also means that the DROID 2 Global is a significantly larger and heavier than the DROID Pro.
- Keyboard:
The DROID 2 Global has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that is larger and more finger-friendly than the DROID Pro’s keyboard. However, the DROID Pro packs both a display and keyboard into a smaller and lighter device than the DROID 2 Global.
- Storage Space: Right out of the box, the DROID 2 Global offers a total of 16GB of storage space (8GB on-board, pre-installed 8GB microSD card), while DROID Pro has a total of 4GB of storage space (2GB on-board, pre-installed 2GB microSD card). Both devices can support up to a 32GB microSD card.
- Camera: Both devices are equipped with 5-megapixel cameras with autofocus and on-board dual LED flashes. Similarly, both record standard-definition DVD quality (720 x 480) video.
- Battery life: Although the phones both have the same size battery, Motorola shows longer talk and standby times for the DROID 2 Global, as compared to the DROID Pro.

While both have physical qwerty keyboards, the Droid 2 Global allows typing the physical keyboard in landscape mode. The Droid Pro allows typing the physical keyboard in portrait mode. What this means is one-hand typing is possible in the Droid Pro but not in Droid 2 Global.
