Activating a cell phone can be different from buying other electronics such as a TV or computer. For orders that include new wireless service or a contract extension, you are not just getting a cell phone shipped to you, but are also getting a monthly account with your cell phone carrier.

To track a specific order, go to www.whereismyorder.com. The WhereIsMyOrder.com site provides you with all the status information available for your order. You can also view and print your sales receipts and rebate forms, as well as track the delivery of your package once we release it to the shipping company.

Most approvals are received quickly, but if your carrier needs additional information before approving your service order, you will receive an email from Wirefly asking for this information on their behalf. Your order status can also be found at our customer service center.

You will receive e-mails to confirm when your cell phone has been approved and activated, and another containing your FedEx shipping details

99% of orders approved and activated by 7pm Eastern Time are shipped on the same day

  • Carrier Approval

    If your order includes a new wireless account, then your application for service is automatically submitted to the carrier you’ve chosen for approval.

    If your cell phone order includes a contract extension from your current cell phone provider, then your information is submitted to confirm that your account is eligible to receive a discount on a new cell phone.

  • Order Assembly and Testing

    Our distribution center staff selects the items you have ordered from inventory. For all cell phone activations, we physically open the box, and we use test batteries to power up the cell phone and ensure that everything is functioning as it should.

  • Cell Phone Activation

    If you have ordered a new service plan or contract extension, Wirefly then programs and schedules the activation of your new cell phone from our production line. Step-by-step instructions for completing the activation are inserted into the shipping box.

  • Transferring Your Phone Number

    If you requested to transfer your existing number to your new cell phone, we will initiate the transfer or “port” and when possible we will schedule the transfer to occur after your phone arrives. Additional information about the porting process will be included with your shipment.

  • Shipping Preparation

    Once your purchase is ready for packaging, Wirefly’s trained warehouse staff carefully packs your order and passes it on to our Quality Assurance team which re-scans each cell phone and accessory to ensure that your order is complete.

  • Shipped

    Wirefly ships your order via FedEx based on the shipping preferences you selected when you placed your order. If you selected 2nd business day delivery, your order will arrive within 2 business days of the ship date. If you selected next business day delivery, your order will arrive within 1 business day of the ship date. You can track the status of your delivery via the FedEx site.

    For your security, FedEx may require a signature at time of delivery. If nobody is available to receive the package, the driver may leave a slip that you can sign to allow delivery without a signature.

  • I have my tracking number but I never recieved email confirmation, so I CANNOT log on to whereismyorder.com, But when I call Wirefly it says that my order is being processed. HELP!!! it was suppose to arrive today!

  • I placed an order with “Allen” on Sunday, 11/27/11. I was purchasing the HTC Rezound for my son. We were doing a “buddy system” upgrade I was told. Allen said it was approved and verified by Verizon while I was on the phone. I provided him with my credit card number and paid for the purchase in full. Then I received three e-mails regarding the fact that Verizon had denied an upgrade on that line. Wasn’t that the point of Allen checking in the first place??? I didn’t receive the e-mails until yesterday while I was out of town. I called Wirefly back moments ago and was told by “Glenda” that I should disregard those e-mails; that, in fact, my order was still being processed. She transferred me to Customer Service for confirmation of delivery and I got a recording stating my order had been cancelled due to ineligibility. PLEASE VERIFY and EXPLAIN! Thank you!

    • Kathleen, sorry about the confusion… you should not have gotten all the mixed messages and I sincerely apologize for that.

      I used your e-mail address to look up your account and learned that the order was cancelled. The problem is that you are not eligible for an upgrade through Wirefly until June 2012. Verizon can offer you an upgrade at a point less than two years into your contract, but Verizon requires that Wirefly wait a full two years before you can upgrade through Wirefly. If you want to get the Rezound now (and it’s a nice phone!), you’ll have to do it through Verizon.

    • Roberto, I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to do. Depending on what carrier you have/want, the activation fee could be waived on Wirefly at this moment, so that could be a big savings for you. Give me more information (carrier, for example) and I will try to help.

    • Darcy, the concern with your order is that you have a very old rate plan that was “grandfathered” in. We can make it happen, but it’s taking some time to work out the details with the carrier. Right now, it looks like your order will ship today.

But yesterday i called and the rep told me that it was going to be shipped yesterday (friday the 14th of oct) before 3 pm but i havent heard anything or received any emails.     I paid for the next day shipping so my order should have shipped today. this morning it said both phones i purchased had passed the carrier approval stage. but now it says “Customer Action Required” so i keep chatting with the customer service reps and they tell me it will be shipped today but then why does it say status pending and the information window says i need to contact wirefly before my order can be shipped.

    please help me Bob

I preordered the Galaxy S2 from Tmobile yesterday and this morning it said on your website that everything was approved and waiting to be shipping (with a little red exclamation point in the shipped bubble). However, I checked again a few minutes ago and it went back to saying waiting for Carrier approval. Is this because it was getting released today? Can you check on the status for me?   • After reading Amazon reviews, I started worrying about things that haven’t occurred to me. Granted I’ll be starting a new 2-yr contract with you and transferring my current phone number. From the day my phone arrives what then? It arrives with a Sim card but then …? (1) How do I transfer my T-Mobile Google-synced Contacts to my new Sim card. (2) When do I start paying on my monthly phone service…the day I order? The day it ships? (3) Does Sprint recognize me as “their” customer or a Wirefly customer? (4) Will Sprint guarantee and service my phone? I read that people were stuck when the phone gets wiggy that they’re forced to send it through the mail to some service center and be forced to go without a phone until the parts or repairs are made. I can’t imagine having a cell phone contract that works like that, very worrisome. Thanks for your answers.

    • Lily, I don’t know that I can answer all your questions here, but I’ll do what I can.

      First, although you buy a phone through Wirefly, your contract is with your carrier. In this case, that sounds like Sprint. Wirefly sells you the phone and Sprint sells you the monthly service. Once you receive the phone and everything works fine, you pay your monthly bill to Sprint and work with Sprint for any issues that arise.

      When you get your new phone, there will be an initial setup process that you go through. As part of that process, it asks you if you want to setup any e-mail accounts. At this point, enter your Google (Gmail?) account information and the phone will automatically sync your contacts. I do this all the time and it works beautifully.

      You will make a payment to Wirefly in order to receive your phone. Sprint will contact you and advise you of the regular monthly payment schedule. Once you receive the phone from Wirefly, you are a Sprint customer — your contract is with Sprint. There is a 14-day period where Wirefly will exchange your phone if there is a problem. Outside of that 14-day period, you can go to any Sprint store for assistance… you are a Sprint customer just like any other Sprint customer.

    • Elizabeth, sorry for the runaround you are getting. The best thing for you to do is to call 866-852-3216 and ask about adding another phone. I don’t know why you weren’t helped the first time, but calling that number is the best way to get the job done. If that doesn’t work for some reason, please give me your order number and I will escalate assistance for you.
