With the barrage of media attention surrounding the impending launch of the Motorola Droid and an army of other Android-powered phones, Research in Motion’s update to its embattled touchscreen phone didn’t exactly storm onto Verizon’s network. Despite its quiet launch, the BlackBerry Storm2 is a much-improved version of RIM’s first foray into the touchscreen realm — though it’s still not a perfect storm.

The Storm2 adds WiFi — a much-missed feature in the original Storm. RIM also upgraded the Storm’s onboard storage space from 1GB to 2GB, and the device comes with a 16GB microSD card and can support up to a 32GB microSD card. Perhaps the most significant improvement over the original Storm comes in the form of updated SurePress technology which brings multitouch capabilities to the Storm and improves ease of typing.

Check out our full video review for an in-depth look at what’s new and improved, and where the Storm2 still struggles.
