  • Okay,
I have a 120 gig iPod… I use about 10% of that now… so I should probably look into getting a large capacity iPad… but I almost feel that it would be a waste of my iPod if I did that. It is three years old… I won’t get any money for it on Ebay… so I should just stick with it. But then having an iPad, somehow I feel like my whole library should be on there. So then I consider the Xoom

I have an Android Phone… LOVE IT ….. and I hear there is an APP that would allow me to transfer my iTunes library over to the Motorola Xoom … which is great because I can expand it’s memory with SD cards…

Because I see so many similarities between the iPod and Xoom – my decision is really going to come down to ease of use. Why bother getting another apple product when I have SOOO much room left on my current one. Why should I spend a couple of extra hundred dollars to get an iPad for extra memory, when I can do that for a fraction the cost in SD cards…

would really LOVE it if you could touch on this subject… :
    * Will the application work as smoothly as the Verizon guy said in transferring my library
    * Is the SD card use easy to do… does or will Apple have SD card use?

    thank you!

    • Suzanne, I haven’t tried the app on the Xoom that transfers your iTunes library, so I can’t help you there. As for the SD card, the latest version of the Xoom has a working SD memory slot. The first versions of the Xoom shipped without a working SD slot, so you may want to be careful about the one you buy. Verizon and Motorola say that the first versions can be upgraded to have a functioning SD slot, but it’s probably best to buy the unit with it working.

As far as I know, Apple has shown no interest in adding an SD slot to its products. The next version of the iPhone is expected in a month or so, and that will tell us if Apple continues to reject a memory expansion slot. BTW, popping an SD card into a device is usually very easy. In the case of the Xoom, the SD slot is easily accessible from the edge of the unit… very simple.

      I hope that helps!
