Reston, VA – November 26, 2010 – Now that cell phones routinely do much more than make phone calls, parents may wonder just what the kids are doing on their phones all the time. With this reality in mind, last week Sprint Nextel announced a new family focused website that makes it easier for parents to control wireless usage on their childrens’ cell phones.
Available at sprint.com/family, the site lets parents do the following on the cell phones in their plans:
Dropping prices of cell phones with full Internet access and the ability to show videos means that more capability is turning up in the hands of younger kids. Parents who want to give their kids a capable cell phone now have a way to limit just what these phones can do. Sprint also has an added-cost feature for its phones called Sprint Family Locator, which can pinpoint the location of any cell phone.
“With this new family microsite on Sprint.com, Sprint is giving parents tools and information to help better manage their families’ wireless experience and to supervise how their children are using their phone,” said David Owens, vice president of marketing for Sprint. “The site includes valuable information about Sprint Family Locator and Sprint’s Internet and wireless safety program, 4Net Safety. We are committed to continually enhancing and expanding these tools to better meet family needs.”
