Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president for Microsoft, said today that the company’s new smart phone operating system will have copy & past functionality “in early 2011.”
Apple’s iconic iPhone was frequently criticised early in its life because it lacked copy & paste capability. With the imminent release of Windows Phone 7, Belfiore wanted to reassure customers that copy & paste would be available on the operating system shortly after its release. Belfiore said that copy & paste would be a free upgrade for Windows Phone 7.
The first Windows Phone 7 to hit the market will be the Samsung Focus (right), which will begin shipping on Nov. 8. Several other Windows Phone 7 models will follow quickly in the weeks after the release of the Samsung Focus.
