While we can’t claim to have seen the Samsung Vibrant perform the feat of TV out with our very own eyes, we can confirm that the Vibrant does appear to support the same TV out functionality of its international Samsung Galaxy S brethren.
Visiting the “Sound and display” menu within the Vibrant’s settings reveals the same “TV out settings” menu as seen in the international Samsung Galaxy S. Within this menu, you have the option to pick from PAL or NTSC video formats. The Samsung Galaxy S is capable of using the 3.5mm audio jack to output a video signal mirroring anything being displayed on the device’s screen.
We’ve reached out to our friends at Samsung for official confirmation of the Vibrant’s video-out capabilities, and will of course keep you updated on what we hear — and perhaps even throw up a video if we can get our hands on the requisite 3.5mm TV out cable.
See “Samsung Galaxy S does video out via 3.5 mm headset jack” at Android & Me for video of the Galaxy S TV out function in action.
Update: To those waiting with baited breath for official word, get your credit cards ready for launch day (or pre-order, if you prefer). Samsung has confirmed for us that the Vibrant does indeed do TV out via the 3.55mm jack. Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth:
“Galaxy S series will use same TV out cable as I920 VZW. The N/N for the TV out cable is 3.5 mm to RCA TV out cable.”
And here’s a link to the cable: http://www.verizonwireless.com/3-5-rca-cable.shtml.

I was reading some Details on the TV out cables, they said the 3.5mm jack has a different color coding system.
RED – Video
White/Yellow – left and right sound
I do not have the cable yet so i have not tried this. but give it a Try if you were using the yellow for video like normal.

thanks for the red-video tip. Works just fine. If you can’t get video try that out first. Also try going to task manager and ending all applications and then try playing videos or surfing the net.

So it looks like some of the features (mobiTv and playing Avatar) are not allowed to be streamed to a TV. I went to Radio Shack and using only the red cable we were able to get my screen to come up on their TV. But then trying to play anything other then my pics and videos I had created on teh phone was not allowed. Going to keep trying and looking for a solution (including calling Samgung directly!)

I tried a cable and the HOME screen is all that worked. Running anything else, the Vibrant output to the TV, “TV Out not supported while applications are running.”
