By some accounts, Google’s once proud Nexus One began its turbulent fall from glory months ago. In what can arguably be regarded as Google’s white flag of surrender, the search engine giant updated its Nexus One storefront page today, encouraging Verizon Wireless subscribers to opt for the upcoming DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC instead of Google’s self-proclaimed “superphone.”

Replacing the very spot where Verizon subscribers were once slated to be able to begin the process of purchasing their Nexus One directly from Google, customers will now find a tacit written nod of defeat.

“For Verizon’s network, you can buy the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful Android phone and similarly feature-packed cousin of the Nexus One.”
