Motorola's Android Pair

Mark your calendars. September 10, 2009 just may be a red letter day for Motorola, signaling the beginnings of the company’s return to a dominant presence in the mobile phone industry. On this September day, Motorola will be heading West to San Francisco where they are expected to officially announce the Morrison and Sholes — two Android-powered smartphones that could be Motorola’s winning ticket.

Leaking several weeks back, the Morrison and Sholes are alleged to have some fairly impressive specs that should make the pair formidable competitors in the quickly burgeoning U.S. Android market.

Arguably making frustratingly few industry waves since its launch of the RAZR (the must-have gadget this tech writer saved his pennies for while a tenderfoot college freshman way back when), Motorola is looking to move beyond the feature phone and make a splash with its foray into the smartphone market.

I, for one, will be rooting for them.
