Samsung Captivate

Well, this one is certain to grab your attention, or perhaps even captivate you. AT&T is apparently on an Android tear, and bad puns aside, the just announced Samsung Captivate stands to satiate AT&T subscribers who’ve been bemoaning the lack of a well-endowed Android phone with the processing speed and display real estate to rival anything on the market.

Originally expected to be bound for T-Mobile, the high-end Captivate will sport a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording and 16GB of on-board storage space in addition to support for up to a 16GB microSD card. Certainly that’s enough pique your interest, but we won’t keep you waiting:

I HAVE a Samsung Captivate – and am mad as hell that when ATT goes 4G, I’ll be left behind because it isn’t compatible and I won’t be eligible for the upgrade I’ll need to get an HTC Inspire, which is, until DECEMBER!! : (

    • Actually, the Captivate uses AT&T’s HSPA network, which is being considerably upgraded to HSPA+ specs. Although the Captivate isn’t touted as a “4G” phone, you will definitely benefit by AT&T’s improvements to its network. The Captivate is capable of pretty speedy Internet downloads and an improved network will help the Captivate. It could help it quite a bit, in fact.
