Today Sprint officially debuted the Samsung Reclaim, a fully-featured messaging device that is made from 80 percent recycled materials. Other environmentally conscious components include a charger that consumes 12 times less power than the Energy Star standard, packaging made from 70% recycled materials, and an outer casing made from 40% bio-plastics.
The Samsung Reclaim features a full slide-down QWERTY keyboard, GPS, a 2-megapixel camera with video capture capability, Bluetooth 2.0, and expandable memory up to 32GB. The device will come in 2 colors — Earth Green and Ocean Blue.
The Reclaim will offer email access, as well as access to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube over Sprint’s 3G network. The phone will also provide access to several green applications such as Green Guides from the Discovery Channel aimed at helping you ‘green your life.’
“Samsung Reclaim is more than just an eco-friendly device, it’s also a powerful and stylish phone that’s easy-to-use,” said Omar Khan, senior vice president of Strategy and Product Management for Samsung Mobile. “When you combine the Reclaim’s impressive feature set with its bio-plastic hardware and eco-friendly packaging, you’re using a phone that is good for you and the environment.”
