HTC Hero for Sprint

Long denied the multitude of joys and benefits offered in Android 2.1 Eclair’s creamy filling, the Sprint Hero has, at long last, received an official update to the latest (at least for a few days) version of Google’s Android operating system.  Hero users who haven’t already taken the bull by the horns and rooted their smartphones will soon be able to download the official update from Sprint’s download site.

A word of caution, Hero users, before you forge bravely forward.  The update will delete all data and information from your phone, so be sure you’ve saved anything you’ll find yourself missing. Full instructions can be found here.

The update will bring the Hero free voice-guided turn-by-turn GPS directions courtesy of Google Maps with Navigation, pinch-to-zoom support, speech-to-text capabilities and many of the other Goodies Eclair has to offer.
