Wirefly Replacement Phone FAQs

What is a replacement cell phone?

A replacement cell phone is a new device that has been designed for a specific US carrier’s network but is sold without a plan. Replacement phones are ideal for anyone who has lost or broken their old phone, or who wants a new phone but is not yet eligible for a subsidized upgrade.

What is the difference between a replacement phone and an unlocked phone?

Replacement phones are “locked” to a specific US wireless carrier, and so are optimized for that carrier’s network, plans and features. Unlocked phones will work on any GSM carrier’s network around the world, thus offering the flexibility of using local carriers’ prepaid SIM cards when traveling internationally.

What US carrier networks can I use these phones on?

Since replacement phones are configured to work on a specific carrier’s network, look for replacement phones that contain the name of your carrier. By doing this, you can be certain that your replacement phone will work seamlessly with your existing carrier.

Is a new contract required?

No. If you already have a contract with a carrier, you can begin using a replacement phone immediately.

Once I receive my new phone, how do I get it working?

With a T-Mobile device, simply remove the SIM card from your old phone and transfer it to your new replacement phone. If you’ve lost your phone and need a new SIM card, you’ll need to purchase one from a carrier store (cost is about $10). If you use Verizon Wireless or Sprint, call them and tell them that you would like to change devices. They will then transfer your phone number to your new phone (this usually only takes a couple of minutes) and you’ll be ready to go.

Can I use these cell phones outside the United States?

T-Mobile devices generally will work outside the United States, but before you travel be sure to contact your carrier to ensure that your account is set up to make calls, send or receive text messages and/or use data services while you are abroad. Only certain “global” devices from Verizon Wireless and Sprint operate in most countries. If you are a Verizon Wireless or Sprint customer, consider buying an unlocked GSM phone and then purchasing prepaid cards from local carriers as you travel from country to country.

Do these phones come with a SIM card?

No.

Can I use all of my carrier’s data features with these devices?

Yes.

Are these replacement phones covered under a warranty?

Yes, manufacturers’ US warranties apply for all of our replacement devices.

What is the return policy for replacement phones?

Replacement phones may be returned only if the phone and all of the other box contents are unused and undamaged, or if the phone is defective. To return your phone, contact our Customer Service department within 15 days of your shipping date to obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number, and return the phone within 10 days of receiving your RA number.

Can I place my order by phone?

Yes. Click on the “Add to Cart” link above next to the phone you want, and then retrieve the toll-free number and call code by clicking on the “Order By Phone” banner.
