According to a report recently released by Rosenblatt Securities, this year’s Black Friday weekend saw consumers purchase 6 million units of Apple’s iPhone X. The flagship device’s total tally in terms of estimated units sold is now at 15 million, which is an impressive number not only because it has only been three weeks since the handset has hit store shelves everywhere, but also because the device happens to be the most expensive smartphone ever released by Apple.
To provide more context, note that during the third quarter of this year, Apple had managed to sell 39.3 million units of its iPhone devices (counting all models). In a given four day stretch, that would be equal to selling 1.75 million units. Of course, Black Friday has always been a big deal for US consumers, but still, purchasing 6 million units of the iPhone X in a single weekend is pretty remarkable. As reported by Rosenblatt, Apple is manufacturing about 3 million units on a weekly basis.
This production output, however, could bump up to 4 million units per week soon, as demand increases in the next few weeks leading up to the busy holiday shopping season. At the rate things are going, Apple could finish the final quarter of this year with sales of about 30 million units of its iPhone X. Furthermore, the tech giant could ride the momentum into the first three months of 2018, registering another 40 million units in quarter sales.
As revealed by Jun Zhang, an analyst at Rosenblatt, most buyers interestingly went for the 256 gigabyte edition of the iPhone X, which is, needless to say, a bit more pricey compared to other editions, like the 64 gigabyte version, for example. Zhang says that Apple is currently selling two times as many units of the 256 gigabyte edition of the iPhone X than the 64 gigabyte version. By the way, the 256 gigabyte version sells for about $150 more than the 64 gigabyte version, which typically fetches for around $1,000.
Apart from enjoying success in terms of iPhone sales, Apple is also generating solid sales for its other devices, particularly its iPad tablets and AirPods earphones. Earlier this week, 9to5mac had reported that iPads and AirPods were among the best selling products during Cyber Monday, according to analytics information provided by Adobe. The other best selling devices included Google Chromecast, Samsung tablets, and Sony Playstation VR. This year’s Cyber Monday recorded the biggest ever online sales in history, with the total volume of spending reaching a whopping $6.59 billion.
