According to the fourth quarter results (as of September 27th), Apple has sold more than 39 million units of its iPhone flagship devices, more than 12 million units of its iPad tablets, 2.6 million iPods, and 5.52 million Mac desktop computers.
Money-wise, the Cupertino company also managed to generate more than $42 billion in revenues, and in the process, got a profit of $8.5 billion.
Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook credits some of Apple's very robust Q4 FY14 results to the record-breaking sales of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices. Cook even makes a projection of the company's revenues in the next quarter -- falling somewhere between $63 billion and $66 billion.
The most recent quarter certainly was a good one for Apple. The 39 million iPhone unit sales easily beats not only last quarter's figures (more than 35 million sold), but also last year's fourth quarter results (33.8 million units sold).
Despite having decent figures, sales of the iPad dropped -- Apple's tablet had sold more than 13 million units last quarter and more than 14 million units in the fourth quarter last year. During this year's fourth quarter, the iPad's tally is only a little more than 12 million units.
For the next quarter results (Q1 FY15), many expect the company to improve its sales even further due to the holiday season. Of course, it is going to be interesting how the tech giant will address its slumping tablet sales going into the first quarter of the fiscal year 2015.
Aside from the all-important sales figures, Apple also shared tidbits of other information of the Q4 FY14 results. For instance, the company disclosed that cumulative downloads of its apps have reached more than 85 billion. Also, in terms of acquisitions, Apple made 20 acquisitions during the fiscal year 2014, with 7 acquisitions in the month of September alone.
Moreover, the company hinted that it has plans for Beats that it will be sharing with the public in the near future. As for its line of products, Apple revealed that it will announcing two new and separate categories, specifically for its recently released wearable device Apple Watch, and for its just-launched mobile payment system Apple Pay.
