Apple has just rolled out the first public beta of iOS 11, the latest version of its iOS mobile operating system. As a public beta, it is now made available for free downloading by basically any iOS mobile user, with people not needing a developer account (which costs about a hundred bucks) to acquire it.
But Apple’s fans need be reminded that this version is still a beta, and is far from being the final product. That being said, the iPhone maker is also looking to deploy regular public betas over the course of this summer. By doing this, the company should be able to fully take care of any bugs in the system, while at the same time, be in a good position to determine which of its new features are clicking with iOS mobile users. By the time fall sets in, the final version of iOS 11 should be ready for wide release around the world.
It was just last week when Apple had rolled out the second developer beta, and it may be safe to assume that the first public beta being released this week is about the same (give or take) as the version deployed for developers. For those eager to download the public beta of iOS 11, they need to be reminded that it is not always ideal to install a beta version on their main iPhone or iPad device. There is simply no guarantee that the beta will work, and in some cases, it might even cause one’s iOS device to crash.
As for those who are willing to take the risks, it would still be a wise decision to back up one’s handset before installing the public beta. This can be done by heading to the Settings app on their iPhone or iPad in order to make sure their iCloud back up is updated. Users can do well too to connect their Apple handset to their computer for the purposes of performing a manual encrypted back up in iTunes. If things do not go as planned, they can rest assured that all of their data remains intact.
So how does one go about downloading the iOS 11 public beta? All users need to do is visit the official web page, and then enroll their compatible iOS device. They will then need to install a configuration profile, reboot their Apple handset, and update the software just like in any regular software update session. If all goes well, the software on their devices should update automatically to the final wide release version of iOS 11 by September later this year.
