A few days ago, there were reports that iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices appear to be displaying the wrong battery percentage on their display screen. This had the unfortunate result of letting owners of the smartphones believe that their devices had plenty more battery power left, but were actually close to empty.
Well, according to a support page in Apple’s website, the iPhone maker is already well aware of the issue and is now currently investigating the matter. The problem seems to be rooted in the iOS mobile operating system, hindering the battery percentage display from showing the right power levels on the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
When Apple launched both its latest iPhone models in September of last year, it turned out that varying editions of the devices came with different battery life. This was due to the two different processor variants that Apple used for the devices. The tech giant had claimed then that the variance was only between 2 percent and 3 percent.
Now for this latest bug, the battery life is actually not affected -- the only thing changed is the battery percentage information being displayed via the icon one sees on the devices’ display screen. According to Apple, the may be linked to the smartphone’s clock. This is because the users affected by the bug were mostly those who have just visited places with different time zones, or those who manually changed the time zone settings of their iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus handsets.
As Apple is trying to find a fix for the problem, the company is urging those affected to reset their iPhone devices by going to Settings>General>Date & Time, and then make sure to activate the Set Automatically setting on. It is not clear yet if this bug affects all iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus devices, or just how many users have encountered the issue. But the fact that Apple has started addressing the issue through a support page in its website is a sign that the bug indeed caught the iPhone maker’s full attention.
Apple should surely be able to supply a fix in the next round of updates for its iOS mobile operating system. Unfortunately, with the company having a stellar track record of keeping its secrets, no one knows just yet when the next update is expected to be rolled out to the masses. In other words, affected users will just have to suck it up in the meantime.
