As many well know, the Apple Watch is Apple's first attempt at making a wearable device. And there is no doubt that for many Apple fans, especially those who already ordered online or made their reservations, it will take some time to get to know and be familiar with the Apple smartwatch's capabilities.
Well, it is a good thing that Apple has decided to help would-be Apple Watch owners by offering workshops at Apple Stores in order for buyers to learn how to operate the wearable device. As of Thursday this week, the websites of a number of Apple Stores have already shown information about an Apple Watch Basics class, according to the MacRumors blog.
As indicated on the websites, those who are interested in signing up for the workshops are asked to bring their Apple Watch and iPhone devices, so that they can be taught the basics in operating their wearable device, including an introduction on the use of glance gestures and lessons about watch faces, and many more. To give you an idea, glances show small slides of info that you can access by swiping on the watch face. Gestures let you explore through the interface either through swiping or tapping. As for the watch faces, users can learn about the many types, their features, how to use them, and even how to customize them.
There is even a second class called Stay In Touch With Apple Watch, which aims to train Apple Watch owners in using the device for communications purposes. This class will cover topics such as responding to text messages and emails, sharing information on location, accepting voice calls, and using the Heartbeat feature, which allows users to send their actual heartbeat to somebody who is using the device's integrated heart rate sensor.
Workshops are nothing new with Apple. As a matter of fact, the tech giant has offered free workshops on various products, including the iPhone, the iPad, the Mac, and the iCloud. But the Apple Watch is something that is entirely new. Moreover, most of the public is not familiar with operating smartwatches in general.
Apple's decision to have interested buyers try out the Apple Watch (but only for 15 minutes; one hour for the luxury Apple Watch Edition) was an inspired move, generating buzz for the soon-to-be-released wearable device, at the same time, providing customers with a hands-on glimpse of what Apple's smartwatch is all about. But when buyers actually receive their Apple Watch orders, they will need to have more in-depth workshops in order to make full use of the device's capabilities.
Both the Apple Watch Basics and Stay In Touch With Apple Watch classes will begin on April 24th, the same day the wearable device officially goes on sale. If the Apple Store nearest you is already offering the workshops, you can start booking reservations. Classes are usually 90 minutes long, and are also available on weekends.
