AT&T has just revealed a new promotional deal for those customers thinking of switching to the network from other rival wireless carriers. Not only that, the second biggest wireless carrier in the United States has also decided to launch a new “buy one smartphone, get one free” special offer to switching customers.
AT&T’s newest switching deal is offered to all existing subscribers of the other wireless carriers making up the Big Four in the US, namely Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Those who avail of this promotional deal can get to redeem up to $650 back for each line of service they port to AT&T. But in order to become eligible for this offer, these customers are required to transfer their mobile phone number and service to AT&T and buy a brand new handset via the wireless carrier’s Next early upgrade plan.
When interested parties activate their device on a new postpaid line of service and then trade in their old handset, they will get either AT&T store credit or an AT&T promotion card for their handset’s trade in value (minimum $10). Once the customer has finished setting up his new AT&T account, he will have to hand over the final statement from this previous network provider to AT&T (customers can do it via this link).
As for those customers who are required to pay early termination fees or final device payments when making the switch, they will receive an AT&T Visa prepaid fit for the amount to be paid, with the trade in value of their old handsets deducted from the amount. As mentioned earlier, AT&T is offering as much as $650 back for each line of service the customer ports.
Interested customers can also choose to combine this switching deal with AT&T’s “buy one smartphone, get one free” special offer. When they purchase a qualified Apple iPhone handset or Samsung Galaxy smartphone on either a new line of service, or (for existing customers) an upgrade, they will get a second eligible smartphone from the same phone maker (Apple or Samsung) absolutely free of charge. This offer only applies to the iPhone 6s, and Galaxy smartphones such as the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, the Galaxy S6 Active, and the Galaxy Note 5.
All well and good, but beware of the catch -- customers must buy the second handset on AT&T’s Next 24 option, which typically spreads payments over a period of 30 months. Moreover, customers will have to add their free handset to a new line of service on qualifying postpaid plan, e.g. Mobile Share Value.
