C Spire Wireless has already gone full holiday mode. The sixth biggest wireless carrier in America has decided to launch a new unlimited data promo, which specifically delivers unlimited voice calls and data for a price of $65 per month. This special offer is only made available to mobile users who activate a new line of service on a smartphone by way of the mobile operator’s equipment installment plan with a two year agreement.
Most unlimited plans offered by nationwide mobile operators are, strictly speaking, not exactly unlimited (in the full sense of the word). C Spire Wireless’ deal is no exception, due to the fact that it has claimed that it may reduce connection speeds, especially for those users whose consumption exceed 25 gigabytes of data each month. Still, the carrier was open enough to offer an explanation for the reduction, stating that by slowing down speeds (and offering the deal for a limited period of time), C Spire can ensure its customers that its network coverage retains its high quality.
It also bears noting that C Spire Wireless is willing to waive activation charges on the plan for all new handset activations and device upgrades. Moreover, customers are also free to combine the unlimited data special offer with an existing free smartphone promo, plus an offer that promises up to $650 in bill credits for those who opt to switch from other carriers to C Spire and trade in their current devices. And by the way, the mobile operator also took the opportunity to debut a new $40 a month plan that comes with 3 gigabytes of data.
To date, it is estimated that C Spire Wireless is currently serving about 1.2 million mobile users across the Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida regions. Earlier this year, the carrier has revealed that it might be taking full advantage of its 28 GigaHertz spectrum holdings in order to connect its expanding fiber network to residences within the vicinity. Last July, C Spire also claimed that it managed to reach speeds of 2.2 gbps in 5G tests conducted in collaboration with Nokia at its headquarters in Mississippi.
C Spire may not yet be at the level of the Big Four wireless carriers (Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint), but it does have a desire to compete when it comes to unlimited data offerings. Three of the Big Four have already introduced their respective unlimited data special offers -- T-Mobile and Sprint had launched theirs back in August earlier this year, while AT&T is offering unlimited data to its customers who are also signing up under its DirecTV service. As for industry leader Verizon, it has yet to make its unlimited data offer, and it is not clear if it even wants to.
