China Unicom, the second biggest carrier in the world's largest mobile market, announced today that Apple's iPhone will be available to its subscribers in the final months of 2009.
After months of rumor and speculation, the carrier has finally sealed an exclusive 3-year deal to offer its 141 million subscribers two different iPhone models. Reportedly, the China-bound 3G iPhones will be lacking WiFi. Similar to its U.S. counterpart AT&T, China Unicom has secured the iPhone exclusive in a bid to gain some ground on China's biggest carrier, China Mobile.
