The biggest seller of smartphone devices in the whole world recently launch a couple of different ads that showcase its brand new AMOLED display screens (view them here and here). Sure, new AMOLED displays are something to look forward to, but even more exciting is the mysterious handset that appears in the two separate ads. One can not really blame Samsung's fans for quickly thinking that the device starring in the ads is the South Korean phone maker’s upcoming flagship device for this year -- the Galaxy S8 -- and it is quite possible that they are not wrong.
Like any high profile smartphone release in the last few years, flagship devices usually generate a lot of buzz even before they are official unveiled. The highly anticipated Galaxy S8 is no exception to this. As a matter of fact, various rumors have already been brewing in the last few months. And considering that the device is Samsung’s first major smartphone offering since the failure of its Galaxy Note 7 phablet, there is no doubt that industry watchers and consumers are curious to see how the South Korean tech giant can bounce back through a new handset.
Moreover, relatively recent leaked renderings of the Galaxy S8 has helped fuel more speculation. Just this week, leaks surfaced in the interwebs, suggesting that Samsung’s next flagship device will not be getting rid of the headphone jack after all. Prior to this leak, there was talk that the Galaxy S8 will be doing away with the headphone jack, like what Apple did with last year’s iPhone 7 models. But as shown in leaked renders from SamMobile, it appears that the headphone jack is staying. Also, based on the leaks, the Galaxy S8 might sport a trio of buttons on its side. There is also the possibility of a flash or other sensor situated just above the regular spot for the camera. And then there appears to be a USB C port on the bottom section just off to the side. Lastly, there is the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack on the bottom part.
As for the mysterious handset that appeared in the two new ads, it does look like it has a rather high screen to body ratio, with reduced border sizes on the top section as well as on the bottom part. The device also appears to sport no home button. It bears noting that no Galaxy mobile device has ever gone without a home button. Based on this, Samsung fans could reasonably guess that the fingerprint reader of the upcoming flagship device will be built into the display screen, which would really be cool.
