The annual Mobile World Congress is the world’s biggest conference for everything mobile, and this year’s event has brought another generous helping of new smartphones. Here are some of the handsets worth checking out.
LG’s G6 Smartphone
The G6 is the newest flagship smartphone offering from LG, and several wireless carriers in the United States have already stated that they will be selling the device, including AT&T, although details on pricing and availability have yet to be made public. LG’s G6 is equipped with a 5.7 inch Quad HD+ FullVision display screen, with a slim bezel, plus a Snapdragon 821 chip set from none other than Qualcomm. Other notable features include a 13 megapixel camera on the rear side and a 3,300 mAh battery.
Huawei’s P10
It is no secret that Huawei wants to challenge Samsung and Apple, and with its new P10, it gets closer to doing just that. Powered by Google’s Android mobile operating system, the Chinese phone maker’s latest device comes with a 5.1 inch display screen and a 3,200 mAh battery, as well as 20 megapixel cameras.
Lenovo’s New Moto Devices
Lenovo (who now owns the Motorola brand) has unveiled the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus, the newest addition to the Moto family of smartphone devices. The higher end Moto G5 Plus sports a 5.2 inch Full HD display screen and a 3,000 mAh battery (with Turbo Power charging capabilities). Pricing for the Moto G5 Plus is just a little more than $200.
Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 is the chip that drives the heart of the Xperia XZ Premium, the latest smartphone from Sony. This processor is capable of supporting up to 1 gbps connection speeds over LTE networks. Other notable specifications include 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 19 megapixel cameras.
Nokia’s 3310
With its brand licensed by HMD Global, Nokia continues to manufacture a comeback, and its new Nokia 3310 might help. If that name sounds familiar, that is because it is -- HMD is bringing back the classic 3310 phone and updating it for the 2010s. Sure, the Nokia 3310 is no iPhone, but for millions of mobile users who were old enough to own the classic, a reboot is certainly welcome. Snake forever!
BlackBerry’s KeyOne
Remember the Mercury smartphone that was unveiled nearly a couple of months ago? Well, BlackBerry and TCL (the phone maker who has licensed the brand name) has rebranded the Mercury as the KeyOne. The handset comes with the old school BlackBerry keyboard, a 4.5 inch display screen (with a resolution of 1,620 by 1,080 pixels), and runs on Google’s Android mobile operating system, plus a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. Pricing is at around $549.
