Here is some piece of news that should interest those looking to purchase a new phablet that comes with a stylus -- LG showcased a new phablet offering called the LG Stylo 3 (outside the United States, the handset is called the LG Stylus 3) during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show being held in the city of Las Vegas in Nevada. The South Korean tech giant had actually already announced five new smartphone devices even before the CES 2017 officially started, and the Stylo 3 appears to be one of the more interesting handsets.
So what exactly does the LG Stylo 3 offer? The phablet is equipped with a 5.7 inch HD In-cell Touch display screen with a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixel resolution (with 258 ppi density). Camera wise, the device sports a 13 megapixel camera on the rear side as well as an 8 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side. Inside its metallic and glass frame, the Stylo 3 packs a 1.5 GigaHertz eight core MediaTek MT6750 chip set, paired nicely with 3 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), plus 16 gigabytes of built in memory (storage is expandable). Other features include a stylus pen, a removable 3,200 mAh battery, a fingerprint reader, and Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system.
With regards to the stylus pen, LG has decided to further narrow the tip of the stylus to 1.8 millimeters, which allows for increased accuracy. The pen fits nicely inside a holder built into the handset’s body. When the stylus is used with the Stylo 3, it generates a vibrating effect. The phablet itself comes with a few features designed only for stylus use, allowing users to write notes (especially by way of LG’s Quick Memo feature) and even annotate screen grabs.
As far as looks and design are concerned, the LG Stylo 3 smartphone does look like a premium device, but LG is actually not positioning its latest phablet as a flagship device. Still, the handset does have some bit of style -- especially with the way its frame meshes smoothly with the curved 2.5D glass panel.
As for the software and features, LG fans will no doubt be delighted to know that the Stylo 3 will be shipping with Android Nougat. LG has always delivered quality when it comes to cameras and its latest phablet does not appear to disappoint, that is, at least for a non-flagship offering. Speaking of which, consumers will be interested to know how much they can expect to pay for such a non-flagship handset. The previous model, the Stylo 2 Plus (available from major US wireless carrier T-Mobile) is priced at $240, which should give people an idea of how much the Stylo 3 will cost, more or less.
