Following the debut of the LG X Power, the first X smartphone ever, back in September of last year, LG has taken the opportunity to formally introduce the second member of the X lineup of midrange devices. Make way for the LG X Venture, which comes with an IP68 rating for water proofing and dust resistance capabilities.
For those not familiar with the aim of LG’s X series, it is a smartphone lineup designed for mobile users who lead active lifestyles. Thus, the LG X Power and the new LG X Venture are tough handsets that not only can take some beating, but also hold their own when it comes to features and functionalities.
As mentioned earlier, the LG X Venture comes with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. On top of that, the device also passed more than a couple of dozen different MIL-STD 810G tests designed for the United States armed forces. Apart from being subjected to resistance and extreme temperature trials, the LG X Venture was repeatedly submerged underwater at a depth of 1.5 meters for as long as half an hour.
Apart from its tough design, the LG X Venture also comes with Outdoor Essentials, an all in one application that consists of half a dozen tools housed in a single mobile app. The tools include a barometer, a compass, an activity counter (which measures the number of steps, calories, or distance), an exercise tracker, a weather reporter, and a flashlight.
As far as looks are concerned, the LG X Venture is designed with three physical keys on the front side, plus a QuickButton on the side that should allow users easier control with the device even while wearing gloves or when their fingers are wet or muddy. Depending on the specific pressing, QuickButton can differently -- a short press launches the Outdoor Essentials feature, a long press brings up settings, and a double press allows people to toggle Glove Mode to detect screen taps and swipes done with gloved hands.
As for the regular device specifications, the LG X Venture features a 5.2 inch FHD display screen with a resolution of 1,080 by 1,920 pixels, flanked by a 16 megapixel main camera on the rear side and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side. Inside its durable frame, the device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chip set, aided with 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) as well as 332 gigabytes of built in memory. It is also fitted with a capable 4,100 mAh battery and is powered by Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system.
The LG X Venture is exclusively carried by AT&T at $11 each month over 30 months. For more deals, feel free to browse other phones and plans from LG at Wirefly now.
