HTC recently introduced a version of its One M9 smartphone that features a bigger display screen. Officially named the One M9+, this handset comes with a 5.2 inch display screen that has 2000 resolution, as well as a 20 megapixel Duo Camera, which is equipped with a secondary camera lens that helps in capturing images that are more detailed. The Duo Camera is a feature that is also found on the previous version of HTC's flagship device, the One M8.
As far as hardware specifications go, the HTC One M9+ device also packs a 2.2 GigaHertz MediaTek Helio X10 octa core processor. The device also has HTC BoomSound, which boosts the volume on the speakers located on the front side of the smartphone. Users may be familiar with this feature because it is also present in the One M8.
Another feature of the HTC One M9+ device is a fingerprint sensor that is situated on the front section of the handset. Users can easily lock and unlock the smartphone using this sensor, which can detect fingerprints in any position, as claimed by HTC.
With the HTC One M9+'s introduction in the Chinese market, the Taiwanese phone maker is definitely making an effort to catch the attention of Chinese smartphone users, especially those who are looking for a larger and meatier version of the One M9. The standard version of HTC's flagship device only comes with a 5 inch display screen, one camera on the rear side, and no fingerprint sensor whatsoever. The One M9+, as its name implies, is clearly an attempt to offer a more enhanced One M9 device.
Moreover, it appears that with the unveiling of the new One M9+ smartphone, HTC is willing to compete with Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices, as well as Samsung's new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets, in offering a smartphone with high end specifications.
However, it seems that HTC will only contend head to head with leaders Apple and Samsung in the Chinese market. Apparently, the Taiwanese phone maker has no plans of releasing the HTC One M9+ in North American and European markets. This might be a bummer for some, but one must remember that HTC already has its standard One M9 smartphone for those regions. It does make sense for the company to beef up its smartphone offerings in China with the One M9+ device. China, after all, is now considered the biggest smartphone market in the world, with nearly 520 million users. Surely, in order for HTC to compete in a stage as big as this, it will also need to produce something big.
