Well, HTC and Nexus fans will be delighted to know that the likelihood of the devices existing just got bigger. According to the latest reports, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has received a filing from HTC for smartphone devices that will be branded under the Nexus name. Although there is no word yet on exactly what kind of features and functionalities will come with upcoming HTC Nexus devices, many expect the handsets to have full network support for all major US wireless carriers.
Also, leaks from Android Police and Twitter user @Usbfl show images of the 5 inch Marlin (code name for the smaller HTC Nexus device, the bigger one is code named Sailfish). Based on these leaked photos, people can expect the upcoming HTC Nexus devices to feature a cool metal and glass design.
So far, rumored specifications for the new HTC Nexus devices include 12 megapixel camera on the rear side, an 8 megapixel camera on the front side, a high end Snapdragon chip, 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), and no less than 32 gigabytes of onboard memory.
Meanwhile, according to VentureBeat, HTC has plans to release a couple of new Desire smartphones, namely the Desire 10 Pro and the Desire 10 Lifestyle, before October this year. There are no reported specs for the Desire 10 Pro yet, but the Desire 10 Lifestyle is said to come with a 5.5 inch display screen, a 13 megapixel camera with single LED flash on the rear side, a 5 megapixel camera on the front side, and a four core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip set. The devices will likely be powered by Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
HTC has had to deal with some not so pleasant news in the last few days. It was reported that T-Mobile was no longer selling the Taiwanese mobile giant’s latest flagship device, the HTC 10. But with two Desire smartphones coming this year, plus a couple of new Nexus devices, HTC should get the opportunity to recover its bearings. But note that the competition is tough -- Samsung has already released its Galaxy Note 7 and Apple will surely turn a lot of heads with the unveiling of its new iPhone 7 devices.
