Earlier this week, leaker extraordinaire Evan Blass posted in Twitter images of what appears to be ads for a certain Huawei PCE Series device. There were four ads in all, and they seem to highlight the handset’s camera specs and imaging capabilities, with mentions of triple lens cameras on the rear side, 40 megapixel images, 5X hybrid zooming that takes full advantage of both optical and digital zoom in photographing far away subjects, and a 24 megapixel shooter on the front side.
The ads posted by Blass also stated that for the cameras on the Huawei PCE Series handset, the third biggest smartphone vendor in the planet seems to have joined forces with noted camera designer Leica, just like what the Chinese tech giant did with the Mate 10 phablet it unveiled back in October earlier this year, and with its 2017 flagship, the P10.
According to Blass, the ads came from an advertising agency hired by Huawei. For the record, the ads have not been released yet, and curiously, Blass has since reported that the ads themselves have been recently removed from the agency’s portfolio. That move may suggest that the ads were perhaps premature, and may have inadvertently leaked the newest addition to Huawei’s lineup of high end smartphone devices.
Blass is quick to to claim that the so-called Huawei PCE series device is actually the P11, the follow up to this year’s P10. Ever since the P10 made its debut more than nine months ago, the flagship offering has impressed with its camera specs, especially with how it combines a 20 megapixel camera and a 12 megapixel camera to deliver a formidable rear side camera combo.
But if the ads tweeted by Blass turn out to be the real deal, then the upcoming P11 is really taking the camera upgrades to a whole new level. Indeed, going from a dual camera set up on the rear side to a triple lens configuration is a huge step. Considering that the Chinese phone maker has not produced any handset with a triple camera combo yet, even its fans may not know what to expect exactly with regards to the image capturing results.
Apart from the triple lens specs, other features mentioned in the ads include a Pro Night Mode feature, as well as integrations with artificial intelligence. The talk is that these features will allow for easier shot taking in minimum light conditions, and also facilitate auto framing and instant scene detection.
