Mobile users from dozens of countries across the globe will finally get their opportunity to grab Apple’s latest iPhone models, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone maker is planning to debut its newest flagship devices in over 50 additional countries in October of this year. Before 2015 is finished, the tech giant should be able to launch its latest iPhone devices to 130 countries.
Considering that both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s plus just hit store shelves in the United States (as well as in China and a few other markets) only a couple of weeks ago, targeting 50 new countries this month and 130 countries in total before the end of the year is by any measure a quick rollout.
As suggested by new information gathered by research firm Kantar WorldPanel ComTech, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus (last year’s models and the predecessors of this year’s latest iPhones) had seen their market share growing all throughout European markets and other regions in the months leading to the September launch of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. For sure, it would be wise to sustain this momentum, which is why Apple is pushing to launch the new iPhones to even more markets this month and the following months during the holiday season.
The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will be made available in over 40 new countries and territories as of Friday and Saturday. The new markets will include Russia, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, as confirmed by Apple. On October 15th of this year, the new iPhones will land on Israel, and then in India, Malaysia, South Africa, and a handful of other countries on the following day. By October 23rd of this year, the rollout should continue in countries such as South Korea and Ukraine.
When Apple first launched the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus on the weekend of September 26th until September 28th of this year, both devices managed to sell a combined 13 million units, which is a new opening weekend record for Apple. The previous record, of course, was held by last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices, which sold 10 million units a year ago. This year’s record numbers were made possible because Apple decided to include the Chinese market (considered the largest mobile market in the world right now) on day one of the launch. Last year’s iPhone models were not launched in China on the first weekend.
