According to a recent report published by Bloomberg, Apple appears to have plans to formally introduce the latest iPhone model, the iPhone 7, on September 7th of this year. Like in any other iPhone release in the past few years, there has been much speculation about the upcoming iPhone 7, especially with regards to its features and specifications. And because Apple has always been good at keeping secrets, nobody knows for sure what the next generation iPhone will bring to the masses.
Still, the rumors abound aplenty. Based on various reports and leaks, the iPhone 7 is said to have a very similar appearance to last year’s iPhone 6s, albeit with redesigned antenna lines on the rear side and a bigger camera lens for enhancing the quality of captured images. Many industry watchers also expect the iPhone 7’s bigger sibling, the iPhone 7 Plus, to come with a 5.5 inch display screen, as well as a new dual lens camera that allows iOS mobile users to take better pictures compared to images captured using a single lens. Moreover, Apple is rumored to be planning to do away with the headphone jack, and instead opt for wireless Bluetooth headphones or those that can be plugged into the Lightning charging port.
For the record, Apple has not confirmed September 7 as the official unveiling date of the iPhone 7. But based on its past iPhone releases, the company normally distributes invites to members of the press and tech analysts usually a couple of weeks before the scheduled launch event. This means that by next week, everybody should know by then if September 7 will indeed be the day the newest iPhone debuts. Interestingly, Sony is also planning to introduce an updated version of its PlayStation 4 on the same date, which means that September 7 looks to be a busy day for tech fans.
Back in July, there was talk that Apple could begin accepting preorders for the iPhone 7 starting on September 9th of this year. It all began when known leaker Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, tweeted that preorders for the devices would start in the early part of next month. Many agree that September 9 would be a reasonable schedule -- after all, last year’s iPhone models, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, started accepting preorders on September 12th. For the iPhone 7, it is possible that the release date will be September 16th. Still, we should have some confirmation about a week from now.
