After the success of Consumer Electronics Show 2017 held at the start of the year, those in the smartphone industry are already gearing up for the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC). One of the much awaited devices set to take stage at the event is LG's flagship smartphone, the LG G6.
While the event will not be happening until February 27th, there are already a number of reports on what the LG G6 will look like. Thanks to a photo obtained by The Verge, we can expect to see a new handset model with rounded corners and thin bezels. It does have a design quite similar to the rounded corners sported by the Xiaomi Mi Mix. But unlike the Mi Mix, the LG G6 carries the usual sensors on its top bezel.
So far, the only things we know about the LG G6 is said to continue featuring a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack that Apple got rid of last year with its iPhone 7 smartphone. Earlier rumors of the LG G6 also point to the device bearing a sealed battery that supports the idea that it will have a water resistant frame. The Verge has also described the G6 to have a build made "entirely out of glass and metal." As for the display screen of the LG G6, the device is said to feature a 5.7 inch LCD screen with an aspect ratio of 2:1 and a resolution of 2,880 by 1,440 pixels.
Comparing the bottom bezel with the one on top of the LG G6, it is said that the former will be "only slightly taller." The source also says that the device will sport the dual camera system for its main rear facing camera. LG has already expressed their decision of scrapping out the modular design idea they implemented on last year's LG G5, which gave its users the option to pop out the bottom of the device and exchange it with one of the modules designed by LG. When the LG G5 launched, it came with module options -- the Cam Plus, the Hi Fi Plus, the LG 360 VR, and the LG 360 CAM. The idea behind the modules were actually pretty neat. Sadly, they seemed irrelevant to the market, especially since each was sold as an add on.
The LG G6 is expected to be announced at LG's press conference for the MWC on February 26th. Until more concrete details about the device are released, we will have to wait and hope the LG G6 will be as stunning as the rumors suggest.
