Roughly a week ago, LG had announced that it will be unveiling its first ever Android Nougat powered mobile device, the LG V20, in the city of San Francisco in California on September 6th of this year. Apart from being the first Android Nougat LG device, the V20 is also looking to beat upcoming new Nexus handsets from Google in getting the newest version of the world’s most widely used mobile operating system. Like its predecessor the V10, the upcoming V20 is said to boast a twin screen set up as well as a dual selfie camera configuration. However, based on the latest leaked renders courtesy of OnLeaks and Android Authority, the V20 apparently has a modular approach to its design, especially when one considers the placement of its button, which will no doubt remind LG fans of the South Korean phone maker’s current flagship device, the LG G5.
Android Authority noted that the device seems to feature a bottom lip, which could serve as something of a reattachable component that would allow all sorts of accessories to be used with the V20. Still, Android Authority itself has warned that the modular renders have not been confirmed by LG yet. But considering that the South Korean tech giant has already gone modular with the G5 (albeit with mixed levels of success, perhaps), it would not be surprising that LG would try to give it another shot with the soon to be released V20.
The renders published by Android Authority also suggest that the V20’s camera might protrude a bit, which means that while basically the device might be 7.7 millimeters thick overall, its thickest dimension (due to camera hump) might be 8.8 millimeters. And while we are on the subject of cameras, the V20’s specs may include a secondary camera lens (similar to the LG G5). Moreover, moving to the front side, the dual camera array on the front as seen on the V10 appears to have been done away with. Lastly, at 78.1 millimeters wide and at 159.5 millimeters tall, the V20 appears to be narrower than the V10.
With regards to the display, the front side of the V20 features the ticker tape secondary display atop the main screen, with what appears to be minimal bezels. The renders further suggest that the power button is placed on the rear side, same as before, and probably with an embedded fingerprint scanner. As for the volume keys, they have been shifted to the left section (similar to the G5’s).
