LG has added another member to its K lineup of handsets. The LG K3 is decidedly a budget friendly smartphone offering, and by landing at Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile (both prepaid subsidiaries of major US wireless carrier Sprint), it should be a welcome option for customers of the two prepaid mobile service providers.
Let us go through the basics first -- the LG K3 comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA IPS display screen with a resolution of 854 by 480 pixels. This is flanked by a 5 megapixel camera (that features an LED flash) on the rear side, and a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera on the front side. As far as hardware specifications go, the LG K3 packs a 64 bit class 1.1 GigaHertz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 four core chip set, which is supported by 1 gigabyte of random access memory (RAM), as well as 8 gigabytes of onboard storage, but it is expandable up to 32 gigabytes. The device possesses a 1,940 mAh Li-ion battery that provides talk time of up to 14 hours, and is powered by Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The specifications mentioned above may not be much, but still, there are features that should excite users. For instance, the device comes with Gesture Shot, a feature that allows mobile users to take selfie shots by way of hand gestures in order to activate the front side camera. Overall, the device only has a modest range of functionalities, which should be expected for a handset within its price range.
Speaking of which, LG has gone on to confirm that its LG K3 smartphone is made exclusive only to Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile for a price of $79.99. At less than $80, the LG K3 counts itself as one of the most affordable smartphone devices out there in the global mobile market that is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Some may remember that back in January early this year, LG unveiled a new K series of smartphones, specifically during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show held in the city of Las Vegas in Nevada. At that time, LG announced two new models -- the LG K10 and the LG K7. The LG K10 features a 5.3 inch HD display screen, and comes in three different LTE variants -- 1.2 GigaHertz with a four core chip set, 1.3 GigaHertz similarly with a four core processor, and 1.14 GigaHertz with an eight core chip set. These are supported with 1 gigabyte, 1.5 gigabytes, or 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), respectively. Built in storage is either 8 gigabytes or 16 gigabytes. As for the LG K7 device, it has a 5 inch display screen with a resolution of 854 by 480 pixels. Inside, the device is equipped with a 1.3 GigaHertz four core processor, boosted with 1 gigabyte or 1.5 gigabytes of RAM, plus 8 gigabytes or 16 gigabytes of onboard storage.
