We now have a pretty good idea that LG’s upcoming newest phablet, the V30, will be making its debut this coming August 31st. This we know because about a month ago, the South Korean phone maker had already started sending out save the date invitations for an event happening on August 31 in the city of Berlin in Germany. And also, the fact that the invite shows the outline of a backlit letter V should be a giveaway that the event will surely showcase the V30.
Well, this week, LG has taken the opportunity to drum up more excitement for the soon to be unveiled phablet by revealing official specifications regarding the device’s camera. According to the tech giant, the V30 will soon have the distinction of being the smartphone with the largest aperture. LG has achieved this by giving the device an f/1.6 lens in its dual camera set up. For those not keen on all that camera tech babble, just know that a lower f value equals a bigger aperture, which means it allows more light to get in. Thus, the V30’s f/1.6 lens would allow 25 percent more light than a device with an f/1.8 lens (like Apple’s iPhone 7, for example).
The LG V30’s generous aperture would also be paired with the camera’s glass lens that is capable of reproducing colors more proficiently than lenses made of plastic material. LG has already claimed that the latest addition to its V lineup of phablet devices will be miles ahead of any existing V model in terms of image capturing capabilities. The V30 will even be able to minimize edge distortion when taking wide angle shots, especially for landscape photos and of course, groufies.
This year is looking to be an ultra competitive year for high end smartphone devices. It goes without saying that LG is hoping that its V30 phablet offering will be able to compete with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 8 and Apple’s highly awaited iPhone 8 (which will be released to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the original iPhone). LG will be officially introducing the V30 on August 31st, which is a few days after the unveiling date of the Galaxy Note 8. And remember there will be other high profile smartphone releases as well as we head into the final quarter of the year, including Google’s newest Pixel offering.
