MetroPCS, the prepaid wireless service owned by T-Mobile, is offering new plans to its old and new customers, as well as adding new inclusions to its existing plans.
This prepaid service provider currently uses T-Mobile's LTE network, and subscribers will be glad to know that MetroPCS is boosting the high-speed data usage on several existing plans. On top of that, the prepaid brand is also introducing a limited-time only offer -- specifically, a new Family Plan that offers four lines of service.
Users who are currently under MetroPCS's $40.00 Period plan can expect their LTE data usage allowance to increase two-fold. As a matter of fact, the wireless provider has revealed that the data allowance is now 1 gigabyte each month, a significant increase from the previous 500 megabytes of usage per month.
The plan will also offer unlimited calls, texting, and throttled data. Furthermore, the flat $40.00 monthly cost will already cover all fees and taxes.
As for MetroPCS's $50.00 monthly plan, T-Mobile's prepaid brand has stated that from 500 megabytes, the data allowance has now been boosted to 3 gigabytes of high-speed data per month, plus unlimited calls and texting.
Apart from the improvements in its individual prepaid plans, MetroPCS is also launching a new Family Plan, which promises to give customers four lines of service at a monthly fee of $100.00. This Family Plan also includes unlimited calls, texting, and 1 gigabyte of high-speed data use for each line per month.
It should be noted that the Family Plan is a limited-time only offer. However, as of this writing, MetroPCS has not provided a closing date for the offer.
MetroPCS has had an impressive year so far. Over the last few months, the prepaid brand was able to expand its reach from 15 metro markets before to 55 metro markets now. And it looks like it is not done yet -- T-Mobile's prepaid wireless provider is planning to ten new locations in the coming months. The new locations are Chicago in Illinois, Milwaukee in Wisconsin, Chattanooga in Tennessee, Kansas City in Missouri, St. Louis in Missouri, the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in Minnesota, the Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News area in Virginia, the Richmond-Petersburg area in Virginia, Salt Lake City in Utah, and the Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick area in Washington.
MetroPCS used to run on CDMA technology. But now, the prepaid wireless company is shifting to T-Mobile's GSM network, at the same time, urging its legacy users on older plans to also make the switch. Just as well because T-Mobile is planning to close the old MetroPCS CDMA network for good before the start of 2016.
