As far as budget friendly smartphone options are concerned, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus that Motorola had released last year were considered by many as one of the most impressive. This is one of the reasons why there is some excitement brewing for this year’s two upgraded versions -- the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus. As for the latter, the device is set to officially launch in store shelves in the United States mobile market this coming September 29th for a starting price of $230.
Compared to the Moto G5 Plus, this year’s Moto G5S Plus comes with a bigger display, with its 5.5 inch screen improving upon last year’s 5.2 inch display. The special edition version also offers a dual camera set up on the rear side consisting of twin 13 megapixel cameras, an 8 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side, and a full metal frame that is quite an upgrade over the plastic unibody (with metal tacked on it) used on the Moto G5 Plus.
Specific special features such as support for USB C or near field communications (NFC) technology are usually what separates flagship device offerings from midrange ones. But even without those cool features, the Moto G5S Plus is still not bad, especially considering its price, which by the way starts at $230, the same range as the Moto G5 Plus. Having an upgraded version at the same price is by any measure a pretty good deal.
Motorola is now accepting preorders for the Moto G5S Plus by way of its official website. By A few days from now, the device should start to become available in stores such as Best Buy, B&H, Fry’s, New Egg, Ting Mobile, Walmart’s website, and of course, Motorola.com.
