Apparently, Motorola is having a bit of a difficult time trying to keep up with the demand. Recently, the phone maker has stated to the effect that the large number of orders are causing some delays in the shipment of Moto X units.
According to Droid-Life, Motorola is even sending out notifications to some buyers, telling them that their orders will not be shipping yet, at least for another two weeks. This news is definitely a blow for users who preordered the Moto X, especially for those who made their preorders just minutes after the preorder period opened.
Perhaps to dampen the disappointment of the disgruntled advanced buyers, Motorola is sending out special promo codes that are good for a $349.00 Moto X, $149.00 Moto G (8 gigabytes edition), or $159.00 Moto G (16 gigabytes edition).
And that is not all. Customers who ordered a 32-gigabyte Moto X handset were notified that the configuration they picked is backordered, and will not be available for selection for the moment. The phone maker then suggested to these buyers to select the 16-gigabyte edition instead. There are also reports that orders made through Moto Maker for units with white-colored fronts are being backordered up to a month.
It appears that the Moto X's release in the United States is off to a shaky start. While Motorola has taken an effort to explain the cause of the delay, it still should rankle people who preordered the smartphone. Besides, isn't that what pre-ordering is for? To give some customers reassurance that they will get their purchases on time?
